First outfit of the year.....on Ebay!

Today I listed my fist outfit of 2013 on Ebay.  It's a four piece outfit for Kaye Wiggs MSD sized girls, but would also fit Dollstown DT7, Volks MSDs and other similar sized dolls.

It consists of denim overalls, sleeveless hoodie with opening zip down the front, long sleeved tee shirt and slouch socks.

I hope you'll take the time to have a little look at it!

Here are some photos of the outfit:

A repaint for Narae?

Decisions, decisions, decisions.....I've been fortunate enough to grab a slot on the list of a faceup artist who does beautiful work on ball jointed dolls.  She's a bit expensive at $100 a head, but her work is lovely.  The thing is, now that I've got the slot, I don't know who, if anyone, I should send.  Originally I'd planned on getting my Kaye Wiggs Hope repainted but I've grown to love her as she is and now I can't imagine changing her.  So I was thinking of sending my light tan French resin Narae.  I actually did Narae's faceup myself and I do like it, but wonder if perhaps it's not professional enough.

So the question is, do I send her for a new faceup or do I save the money and keep her as she is?  I do like her natural slightly freckled look....and I made this wig to go with her colouring...

Rheia's head joins her body!

Today my Mini Fee Rheia head arrived from The Netherlands and how pleased she was to get back together with her body that was waiting here for her!

I am still without my laptop so couldn't upload my photos from my camera, so took a few using my iPhone. I have only seen them on the tiny screen so hope they are nice when viewed larger.

Here are a few taken in the garden this afternoon...between rain!! Yes the weather has been dreadful today, wet and really quite cold. Neighbours are wondering if we might get snow....

A tiny bit of summer...

Although this morning I sat in the warm winter sunshine in my garden drinking a cup of tea, by this afternoon winter was nipping at our heels again!

So on this bitterly cold night, I thought I'd share some summer photos from my phone as my laptop is in for repair!

Enjoy!

Oldest but sweetest....

Today, despite the cold (well cold for me!) and rain, I ventured out into the garden to take some dolly photos.  OK I admit that I didn't know it was raining until I got out there or I'd probably have got lazy and not bothered.  But I wanted to take some dolly photos today as I'd been putting it off for several days.

So here are some photos of Narsha that were taken this morning.  Narsha was my first ball jointed doll and came to live here direct from Dollmore in S.Korea back in August 2006.  She is made from French resin and has a beautiful faceup by Raven of Ravensdolls.  Being French resin she has yellowed badly but I prefer to think of her as mellowed!  Despite the yellowing, I think she is still very beautiful and although I'm prejudiced, I think she is still one of the loveliest Narsha's that I've ever seen!!!

She is wearing Monique Gold Jojo wig, which as usual I have trimmed!
Acrylic brown eyes by Glastic Realistic I think....I have tried changing Narshas eyes for glass ones many times because I prefer glass but always change them back because she just doesn't look 'right' with any others!!!!
Outfit by me.

Spoilt...or what!!!! Just had to share!

I just had to share this photo which I took on my iphone a couple of nights ago.  It was about 4am and I went for a quick visit to the loo (if I were more polite I'd say that I went to the 'Ladies Room' to 'powder my nose'....but you'd all think I'd lost the plot doing that in the middle of the night....

Anyway, I digress, I went to the loo and what do I find on my return????  A little black Chihuahua called Yoda, has decided to make herself comfy, not only in my space in the bed, but with the covers tucked up under her chin...and her head on MY pillow!!!!!!  And she drawls!!!!!

Ooops how did that happen?!

I've been very naughty 'dolly-spending-wise' this week and today has been no exception!  Last night a friend of mine in the US sent me a link to a doll for sale on the BJD forum, Den of Angels.  The doll, an Iplehouse KID Lonnie in peach skin, is one I have been sitting on the fence over for several months, never being able to decide if 1) she was for me, or 2)  whether I can be 'doing' with the long wait when ordered directly from the company.   So until now, I've just enjoyed looking at other people's photos of them.  One person who's photos I've always enjoyed, Randomfish, has, within recent months, added a little Lonnie to her collection of lovely dolls....and because I enjoy her blog and seeing her Lonnie, it sort of pushed me over the edge....and this morning I contacted the seller of Lonnie on DOA, made her an offer and bought her.  The doll will be coming from Australia so won't be here for a couple of weeks, but of course the guilt started straight away.  I don't know why I always feel so guilty over dolly purchases, especially as I only spend what I have in my paypal account .... it must be the Catholic upbringing!!!  Or maybe it is my mums voice ringing in my head, telling me that I "must have more money than sense!"

Of course I could just blame Randomfish.....and be completely guilt free!  I wonder how she'd feel about that! :)

Anyway, obviously I don't have any of my own photos yet, so here are a few from the company, Iplehouse in S.Korea.  The doll is 34.5cm tall and has Face Up B.

In other dolly news, I found a head for my Mini Fee body and that is on it's way from the Netherlands as I write.  It is a Rheia head with gorgeous default faceup from Fairyland.  Her body is here waiting for her and wearing an outfit that I made yesterday for her.  I will take photos once the body and head are reunited!

Dismal day...

The weather here for the last couple of days has been absolutely dismal, too horrible for taking dolly photos...or any photos come to that!  It's not cold but it's so darn wet and grey!  I almost envy my friends in the UK who have snow, at least photos in snow can look quite magical!

Anyway, I thought with my limited connectivity to the internet (yes, my problems persist), I would see if I can post some photos from last year.  Photos of my dolls that I really liked or that reminded me of my favourite time of year....summer!

So with apologies for nothing new, I hope you enjoy this little bit of sunshine in the middle of winter!

Here's Samantha, my Elfdoll Hana Angel, at a garden centre in Nerja, Malaga:

Hope you enjoyed that little bit of summer!

Laptop problems ... and catching up....

I thought I'd try and catch up with my blog whilst I could because every day for the last week and a half I have been having problems with my laptop and connecting to the internet.  It seems particularly bad during the afternoon and evening, the evening being the time when I like to catch up with 'proper' emails and my blog in particular.  I have run several diagnostics and my hubby has also been checking too, and because the problem only seems to affect me, he feels that it could be my 'wi-fi' card....I think that's what he said anyway!  Unfortunately, although he is great with computers, he doesn't like to fiddle so much with laptops, so I will probably have to seek out someone down on the coast to have a look at it as soon as I can.

So please forgive me if I've not commented on your blog, or for not writing much on my own.

So while I have this little bit of 'connectivity' this morning, here I am catching up!

I just got a couple of packages in the post.  One of them is the hair that I got from Retro Dolls in the UK to reroot the fringe of my little redhead Sasha.  Unfortunately, the two colours I chose are not a good match now that I see them in real life.  I chose Red Deer and Auburn Spice, both lovely red shades, but I now realise that she is more towards browny auburn than these two shades appeared on my laptop screen.  I don't know whether to go ahead and give her a cute multi-coloured fringe or send the two packs back to Retro Dolls for different shades.  I know that they will match up colours for you if you send a piece of the existing hair colour, but I'm very reluctant to snip any hair from her head to send.  I will have to give it some thought.

And the second package was from my friend Sue in the UK.  She had a duplicate red wig that I liked and was going to buy, but she said I could have hers as she didn't need the two!  Also inside the box were 6 bars of Cadbury's Finger of Fudge!!!!  Sue knows these are my favourites and often sends me some.  Last time she sent me "a full hand" of 5 but I joked that I originated from Canvey Island (I don't but it was worth a try) and that there, with all the inbreeding, we had 6 fingers.......(again not true but it was a means to an end!!!) and so today I find not 5 but SIX Fingers in my package!  What a lovely friend she is!!!!

A couple of days ago I received the Mini Fee Karsh that I'd traded for with a friend of mine in the Netherlands.  Unfortunately, although the Karsh faceplate is really lovely, it isn't for me...it is a lot more masculine than I expected, so I have sold it to a lady in Germany.  Hopefully she will pay on Friday and I can get that off to her soon.  So now I have a headless Mini Fee girl body and no head for her...poor thing!  I will have to keep stalking the marketplace on Den of Angels in the hope of finding one I like!  I hate having 'floating' heads and headless bodies hanging around, so I really hope I find something soon!

And so this doesn't end up just a whole bunch of ramblings, here is a photo of my tiny bjds as of today!  The only one in this size range that is missing from the photo is my Kaye Wiggs tanned Tillie who prefers to hang out with the bigger girls!

Pink as Candy Floss!

Finally this morning I finished my Blythe reroot!  Yeaaah!  It feels like I've been working on it forever, although really it's not that long at all!

After the scalp kept falling off yesterday, I reglued it and left it overnight, this time I stopped myself from constantly poking at it to see if it had stuck, and sure enough, this morning it was securely attached, so I was then able to start on the styling!

She looked a little bit like Cousin It from The Addams Family at first!

I wanted to cut a straight fringe into it so used a tutorial by Puchi Collective and made the first cut:

Candy preferred to keep her eyes closed at this point.....

After that it was just a matter of getting it straight and all the same length.  As you can see above, the hair was really long and I don't like my girls having that much hair as it gets in the way of everything and really is a constant battle to keep tidy, so I cut approx 3 inches from the length all round.  Once I'd got that more or less level, it was just a matter of dressing her again and taking her photos!  She chose to wear this shawl collared dress that I made a while ago for one of her Blythe sisters.  Her spotted leggings and pink Doc Marten style boots are from Cool Cat.
I'm very happy with the finished result.  The colour is just what I wanted for her.
I couldn't choose which photos I liked best so I've added nearly all of them that I took!!

And a couple where I've been playing with a photograph site!

Little waif!

Poor little Ellory is still waiting for me to make her some clothes that actually suit her Tomboy personality!  I made her a blouse yesterday which I thought would look nice with a skirt that I planned to make next.  She doesn't want the skirt.  She wants jeans.  She wants sweatpants!  She wants everything that I wasn't really planning on making for her!  I guess I'm going to have to have a rethink here!!!

I had to laugh, this hat makes her look like she has a tea cosy on her head!!!  Ah well, at least it'll keep her 'brains' warm!!!

Yay!!! Reroot finished!

This morning I finally finished my Blythe reroot in baby pink saran!  It is the second scalp reroot that I've done but my goodness it has taken me much longer than the first one.....I don't know why, I did it exactly the same as the first one.  Maybe with Christmas in between starting and finishing, I've been a lot slower.

Anyway, I glued it on but afterwards it fell off!  I think I need to use something other than PVA glue perhaps.  At least though I got an idea of the colour on my Blythe Border Spirit, Candy, who I customised a few months ago.  Her original hair was blond but it was a very yellowy blond and I wasn't keen on it....so I dyed it using Dylon but it came out too dark...it was more of a raspberry pink than I wanted.  So I decided to go the full 'hog' and do a reroot.  I got a new rubber scalp from Cool Cat, then I got my baby pink saran hair from Retro Dolls in the UK and took it from there.

Tomorrow I will reglue the scalp to her faceplate and not be so impatient this time and leave the elastic bands in place for longer.  I then need to do the thatching on the centre part.  I am going to give her a fringe because I don't really like my Blythes without, I think their faces are too round and large for that look.  And then finally I'll cut the length.  I hope I can get it all done tomorrow but I don't want to rush anything.

Candy was not a happy bunny when I took these photos.....the indignity of those elastic bands...not to mention the discomfort!!!!

If looks could kill.....

More dolly news!

I did a trade today with a friend in the Netherlands and this lovely creature will be coming to live here in Spain!  She is a Fairyland Mini Fee Karsh girl with default faceup.  The faceup is quite dark and strong because Karsh is normally a boy sculpt,  but I really like it....and she has elf ears!!!  I haven't got any other dolls with elf ears so this is a first!  However, if I choose for her to be a 'human' then the ears aren't a problem because they'll be hidden by her wig.  Anyway, here are a few photos of her taken by her current owner, isn't she lovely!
