February Already! And finally some dolly time :)

Most people complain that January goes by so slowly after the rush of December and Christmas but I must admit, that having been in the UK from the 3rd to the 11th, the month seemed to whizz by!  I was hardly home when the 31st arrived and brought with it my son Brendan who came over for a week's holiday with us.  He mainly comes to see us on his own as he has more holidays than his wife Virginia, so when she comes to Spain she naturally spends the time with her family.  Anyway, it was a great week, we did lots of chatting and laughing and of course shopping, Brendan always wants to buy things here that are apparently much cheaper than the UK, so he keeps us very busy!!

Lucy loves having Brendan home!

On the dolly front I have sold a couple of dolls and done a bit of sewing as well as have taken some photos of different dolls who've had a change of clothes or wig.  The weather has been lovely, very warm and sunny, perfect weather for taking my girls outside to photograph.....

Here is Holly (formerly Wentje, the doll I showed in my last post), she is a Zwergnase Junior and is 55cm tall.  I changed her into this dress that I made ages ago for another doll that has since left for pastures new.  I then added a 'shirt' underneath so that it looked a bit different from when the last doll wore it. When I first got her I wasn't sure about her but since I got back from the UK and have had a chance to 'play' with her, she's really grown on me.

Also today I changed the wig on my Little Cosmos Dolls Robin.  I've always thought of her as a dark haired girl but yesterday I received this wig from a group order I'd participated in back in the autumn.  By the time it arrived, I couldn't remember who I'd ordered it for!!!  So Dylan (Robin) tried it and I really think it suits her so she will keep it.

Who'd have thought she'd look so angelic as a blond!  Funny how looks can be so deceiving though😉

I also changed my little Sienna (Bastian, also by Little Cosmos Dolls) into this cute outfit by the Gorjuss company.  It seems odd to have a coat with short sleeves but it's not cold here now so little Sienna doesn't mind 😉.  This girl's face so appeals to me, she always looks so worried, like she's scared she's about to be told off!!!

I made a couple of outfits for my Kaye Wiggs girls, here is Gracie modelling the outfit I made for her....It wasn't quite finished in this photo, I'd forgotten to put the cord through the bottom of the sleeveless hoodie!!

Here we go, the cord is now done and I made another outfit, this time for Hope.

I have a third outfit cut out and ready to sew for Layla, I'll get to that soon I'm sure!

In the meantime, I am off to the UK again on Thursday to see my mum and brother.  My mum has been doing very well since her fall and is completely on the mend now, thank goodness.  She was recently discharged by the physiotherapists and is now walking well with the aid of a walking stick or a walking frame.  I'm only going for five days but looking forward to it....apart from the weather!!!

I have some dolly purchases to pick up whilst over there so hopefully will have some new arrivals to show you on my return.

Have a great week ahead, and for those of you being affected by Storm Ciara, keep safe and warm.

Big hugs
Sharon in Spain xxx

  1. Well now, isn't Brendan the handsome lad! Good to see you spending some mother son time together Sharon. :)

All the photos you take make me quite envious at times and wish I could take photos as good as you do. Holly is looking very pretty in her new outfit. The wig on Dylan looks great, I've always love that style of wig on little girls and would love one similar for my new blonde that's coming (BTW can you tell me where you purchased it?). The second photo of Sienna captures her insecurity so well, and Gracie and Hope are simply delightful as always.

I luv, luv, luv all the outfits you have sewn!!
Enjoy the time with your mum and brother, see you when you get back!
    Big hugs,
    X

    1. Aww thank you Sandi, I have to agree on Brendan but then possibly I'm just a little bit prejudiced ;) It was lovely having him here though, he is fun to be around!
What a lovely thing to say about my photos, but I think you must be mistaken, mine are so boring! Your photos have lots going on, little props, all so perfectly posed, you take lovely photos!!!!
Glad you like the wig. I actually got it in a recent group order from Fairyland, it's the default wig that comes with the newest Little Fee, Cygne, I liked it when I saw it and thought it would be lovely for one of my dolls....but since it took a few months to arrive, I cannot remember which doll it was for!!!

    2. No mistake Sharon, they are always lovely and clear and the dolls are so well posed, they look like real little girls. :) Looked at Fairyland but closest was LFW-04 Blond(Mohair) for LittleFee, I guess I'll just have to keep looking or get that one and restyle it. Oh I know the feeling, that's what happens when the wait is so long . . . do you think we need a log book? LOL!

    3. Thank you very much once again Sandi, I really appreciate your comments.
I'm guessing that the wig was just a one off for the Little Fee Cygne fullset :(
PS I have spreadsheets for most things 'dolly' as I can never remember things, but wigs was not one of them!!!

  4. Now if thats not the perfect photo of devotion I don't not what is! Lucy hanging on his every word.. and hoping for a bit of attention, so sweet.

I love seeing your dolls and any outfits they are wearing , new or just redressed.

Glad to hear your mum's on the mend and getting about well. You'd best pack all your warm clothes if you are coming later this week, the weathers just turned even colder and what with the storm Ciara and the rain and sleet , well are you sure you want to come this week?? lol
Maybe bring a bit of that sunshine with you for a day or two xxx

    1. She's so funny Dee, she goes completely nuts when she sees him and then she just cannot leave him alone...then we have days of her really sad face when he leaves again.
Well I have just rooted through my clothes and have some polo neck jumpers and long sleeved tops packed, I even managed to find a vest so hopefully I should be warm enough with those and my body warmer as I don't have a coat!!
I will try to pack a bit of sunshine for you too then ;)

  5. So glad to hear that your mother is doing well. I have been praying for her.

I love the photo of your son and the doggie. What great pals they are.

I like the black and white photos. They allow me to focus on the dolls' faces.

The little red hoodie is adorable.

    1. Thank you very much for the prayers Dorothy, that is really kind of you.
Brendan and Lucy really are great pals together, I always worry a bit when she gets so sad when he has to leave but give her a couple of days and she's OK again.
I also like B&W photos as well as sepia ones, I will try to do more so that you can see them better when I post.

  7. I love the photo of Brendan and Lucy. Adorable! And I am amazed by the cute fabrics you use to the outfits you make. Dylan looks great in the new angelic wig! What size are the Gorjuss doll clothes, the outfit looks cute!

    1. Thank you Niina, she is so devoted to him!
I'm glad you like the photos. The Gorjuss outfits are for their dolls that are 32cm tall, so the outfits fit the Little Darlings, the Paola Reina dolls, and this outfit fits Narsha by Dollmore too as far as I can remember. Their outfits are really nice and well made but I'm not sure that they sell many outfits on their own without the dolls :( which is a real shame.

    2. Thanks! Narsha is such a great size, but when it comes to clothes it is a bit hard to find something that fits. Made a search for Gorjuss doll clothes and outfits and as you wrote, most outfits are sold with the doll. Found this though, https://www.santoro-london.com/en/products/beach-belle-outfit-for-32cm-gorjuss-doll Cute!

    3. You're welcome! Funnily enough I also saw this outfit a couple of days ago, it was on the Spanish site, Dolls and Dolls ... they have a sale on at the moment but it doesn't seem to cover this outfit, but it is much cheaper than the one you linked to. Here is the link:

  9. I'm so glad to hear your mum is feeling better! It must be such a relief not to have to worry as much.
Your dolls so fantastic as usual. Sienna is so precious. I love that your change up your dolls to create new versions of them! Layla also is such a cutie. :) Do you still have any dolls that have been with you from the beginning of your adult collecting?

    1. Thanks so much Farrah, and yes, it really is a relief!
I think this is what I particularly like about BJDs, the fact that just a change of a wig or eyes can make them seem like a completely different doll. It stops me from getting bored I think.
I do indeed still have some of my original dolls from when I first started collecting them. I have Narsha who was my very first BJD and she came here in August 2006, and then I have a set of four Sylvia Natterer dolls that, if I remember rightly, came here in 2004.

  11. Hi there! I'm glad to hear that your mom is doing well and that you had a lovely time with your son. I'm always surprised by the fact that some of you have kids my age. When I started collecting, I thought everyone I met was in their mid thirties, and when I found out that most of them were 50+ I was quite surprised. I think is fabulous how a hobby can bring together people from such different backgrounds and a broad age spectrum.

Your dolls look very beautiful. I like Grace's outfit the most, very detailed. I don't know how can you sew such a tiny zipper. Thanks to your blog, I've been taking a look at the Kaye Wiggs dolls, and they are so beautiful and come in different sizes. Right now I can't get myself into another type of doll, but I will definitely keep an eye on those dolls.

Hope your visit to the UK goes smoothly. Have a great weekend.

    1. Thanks so much and yes the trip to the UK went really well, I will write about it on my next post. I know what you mean about this hobby, the age range is really quite vast. I have dolly friends who are in the 80s now and others who are still in their teens, and we share this common ground of our doll hobby. My son was 33 years old at Christmas....writing that makes me feel really old, so I should lie and say I had him when I was just a child ;) My body ages buy my brain always seems young to me. I often say to people that in our hobby we will never be old as we always play with dolls :) so we remain little kids forever :)
I'm glad you like the outfit, thank you! Oooh you know that Kayes dolls are another slippery slope don't you? ;) I have 5 now and never intended having more than the one.
Have a great weekend yourself :)
