A (temporary) new look for Hope! (LOTS of photos!!!!)
This morning I decided to remove Hopes faceup! I generally remove the existing faceup if I'm sending a doll off for a new one because some faceup artists prefer it and also I always think that it just saves them the job! I know I'm a bit premature because my slot with my chosen artist won't even be available until the summer, but I did it all the same. Then I thought I'd have a little practice on her myself. She looked quite scary and ugly without her face!!!
Once she was all nice and clean I sprayed her with a coat of Mr Super Clear Flat (sealant) and then got to work. Now I'm not the worlds best faceup artist....in fact I'm not very good at all, but I like to have a go....and it's only temporary! As it happens though, I'm really quite pleased with how she's turned out, she actually looks rather sweet! Apologies for all the photos, they are a bit repetitive but I couldn't choose which ones I liked best!!!
Wig and overalls by me. And faceup, obviously!!!
Hi Sharon, I think you did a wonderful job! She's so sweet and adorable.....a perfect job I dare say!

Awww thanks so much billa! I'm really quite happy with how she turned out!
DeleteUm, I don't think "not very good" means the same thing to you as it does to me. She looks fantastic.
ReplyDeleteJulie, you're very kind, thank you so much!!! I am extremely critical of my own work and never quite satisfied with it.....but I suppose it is because when I look at things I've done, I tend to focus on that which didn't meet my expectations rather than that which did, or which may have exceded them!!!
DeleteShe is amazing. I love the photos. The dungarees is nice. She looks like a real girl and i like the Photos with the lemon tree in the background.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Barbara, I'm so glad you like her new look. I love using the lemon tree for photos because it makes quite nice lighting as the sunlight filters quite well through the leaves! I tend to use that spot a lot!!!
DeleteI think she is lovely - I've been looking at bjd dolls on ebay over the last few days - and she compares very well!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Tricia, I'm glad you like her look! Are you going to dip your toe into the bjd world, or have you done so already? Let us know who you're interested in !!!!
DeleteShe looks gorgeous! So much more realistic than before! I do love these bjd dolls by kaye wiggs and I think your re pait is a vast improvement. Do you still need to send her off ? I think she perfect as is.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Dee, I'm glad you think so! Yes, I love Kayes dolls, the sculpts are so lovely. She is a really nice person too...I got my first KW doll directly from her, she was handpainted by Kaye and she was soooo lovely to speak with and did her face just as I wanted. Unfortunately because she was a Super Dollfie size, I ended up selling her because of the large size.....but she was great! I now have three KW girls, two are this size and one small one!
DeleteAs for sending her off, I probably will still send her as the faceup artist will make her just perfect!!
Oh wow! I actually love her this way!! Maybe you don't need to send her off at all! :D
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Lynn, I'm glad you love her! I will wait and see but I'm sure, funds permitting, she'll ending up going off to Sweden in the summer!! :)
DeleteWow Sharon, you did a wonderful job! I think she looks gorgeous, I would leave it as it is, personally! Hugs X
ReplyDeleteAww you're too kind Nymphaea, I'm glad you like her new look though! I will see how it goes, I'm just not sure that she is good enough being done by me!! x
