Ahh but as we know, all the best made plans........I took some photos, I changed her wig and clothes and that was it. I realised that I couldn't sell this doll even for four figures! I'm not greedy, I know that if I have any regrets then this doll will be irreplacable because I'm hopeless at saving money and would struggle to find another even if I could get the money together. I realised that the doll meant more to me than the money, which would just get spent anyway!!
Not only that, quite quickly over the last week, this doll has actually become one of my favourites of all my dolls!!! How weird is that!!!!
So she is staying and today I changed her into this knitted set by Stassy Dodge in Latvia. The set is actually knitted for the Sylvia Natterer dolls who are bigger in the body than Hope, but I liked how it looked on her. Plus having been brought down here with selling in mind, I never brought any clothes for her!!! Poor girl!
I took her to the beach with us for our usual Sunday morning walk, it was mild but dull and very very still, not a breath of wind. I hope you like the photos of her :) and warn you there are a lot of them!!!!
Thank you for stopping by my blog today, I hope you all have a lovely week ahead and keep safe and warm!
My, my! We're getting very daring with our 'out and abouts'with our dolls these days...although I did notice that there weren't many people around!
ReplyDeleteSuch a dear and delightful little doll again. Glad that she hasn't been put up for adoption since you seem to have fallen in love with her all over again.
Are you definitely planning to spend Christmas down at the coast this year then?
Hi Kendal, thank you very much for your nice comments. I am indeed getting that little bit more daring, aren't I! But you're right, there weren't that many people about this morning because it was a bit dull, and of course last weekend had been a bank holiday, but there were people very close by and I decided to ignore them and get on with the job in hand!
DeleteI'm glad too that I didn't put her up for adoption as I'd never have been able to replace her and would really have regretted it.
Yes, we are staying at the coast this year until after the Three Kings (6th Jan). It is the first time in 12 years that we've stayed down here, but because Brendan and Virginia won't be with us this year, (and it is the first time in his whole life that Brendan has not been with us for Christmas and his birthday (23rd December)) we thought that we'd do everything as different as possible....we are even having our Christmas dinner in our local English owned restaurant! I just think it's going to be so odd that it was better to make it completely different in the hope that we won't miss them being with us as much :(
Though I have a feeling that won't work!

She is way too sweet nott to keep! Her little cousin Tilly is waving madly. I'm such a terrible, disorganised doll mummy, though. Tilly will be flying off back to her real mummy in Spain if I don't manage to finish another outfit soon, one that actually fits her.

Thanks very much Jen! I'm glad you think so. That poor little Tilly, waving her arms off! I hope you're able to make her something but to be honest, she went without quite a lot here, so maybe by now she is used to it! LOL

Ha ha! The dolls in public thing is not always easy, is it? BUT, it seems bjds are OK by young adult standards - they are considered cool and acceptable. It seems we are not allowed to play with the dolls of our own childhood in public because that's childish, but bjds are fine. According to the Gospel of St. Rosie-Next-Door aged 13 years and 7 months, that is!
ReplyDeleteNo, not easy at all. But I'm trying my best. Some of my photos will look rushed, I just need to get more and more used to it!
DeleteI don't know about BJDs, I just feel that any doll really, being held and photographed by an adult, is or can be, cause for ridicule! So far so good though, I've not had anyone say anything, just look at me...which I admit I find uncomfortable!
It is good you have such a wise neighbour to advise you ;)

Just thought ... does she look a it like your future daughter in law?
ReplyDeleteLove the third photo most (The third counting from the end :)
Thanks so much for sharing!
Maybe her hair does, Virginia has beautiful curly hair, which, as you would expect, she hates! She wants straight hair and often has it straightened....whereas I would love her curls and I have straight hair!!! We're never satisfied are we!
DeleteThanks on the photos Anne, I'm glad you like them!

She's gorgeous Sharon! Don't know how you could have thought of selling her! Seeing your lovely photo's of her made me go off and look at whats available out there but I was about to make my donation to Charity on behalf of all my Sasha buying this year, so had to alas just look and not buy :(
ReplyDeleteLove that you are now out there in the fresh sea air taking photo's while everyone's still eating breakfast ! lol
Love all the photo's but particularly 11,12 and 13.
have a lovely week hugs Dee xxx
I know Dee, I'm not sure what came over me. I think it was $$$$ came into my head but thankfully it didn't stay long! Phew, what a close shave though! I even had an enquiry from someone too!
DeleteThanks on the photos, I'm glad you enjoyed them!
Have a great one yourself!

She's adorable - I can see why you had to keep her.
ReplyDeleteLove the way you have her posed on the rocks - such natural postures!
Thanks jSarie! It was a bit risky putting her on those rocks as they were getting a bit sprayed with water as the little waves hit them, but I'm glad I did as she does look quite natural there :)

I can definitely see why you chose to keep her. It's it amazing that dolls can create such emotion in us? I guess that is what their creation was intended for, but I think all of us "get" exactly what you mean. She has such a precious and sweet face. She's such a nice part of your collection and I'm glad we'll still be able to see more beautiful photos of her!! :) I hope you all have a nice Christmas on the coast...I think it's a great idea that you are planning to do things much differently since your son won't be there this year as it can be felt as a whole new experience. I would do the same thing! xo
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Farrah, I knew that my dolly friends would indeed 'get it'! It's funny but we put so much of ourselves into our dolls in styling them etc., that sometimes it is very hard to give them up...in this case I'm so glad that I didn't!!
