This morning we came back from spending almost three weeks at the coast and although we're only an hour inland, it's about 6 degrees centigrade cooler here than down there.....and I don't do cold!!! Anyway, I unpacked all my stuff and then had a bit of 'dolly time' before getting back into the swing of 'home stuff'.
Olive, my JerryBerry, has the usual shiny face that these dolls come with but I don't really like how it looks in photos as the surface of her 'skin' creates a bit of glare, so I carefully covered her eyes and then gave her face a coat of Mr Super Clear Flat and I'm very pleased with the result. Her face is now matt and looks so much better in photos......although I have to say, poor Olive doesn't look any happier, does she?
I also changed my Mini Fee Rheia's wig because the brunette mohair one was not so great. I'm trying out blond for a while, although I still feel that she should be a brunette!! You can see in these photos where I've removed the black dots at the corners of her mouth....I'm much happier without those!!
I also had some nice dolly packages arrive whilst we were away so I had those to open. Rheia, above, got some great brown Mary Jane shoes which are handmade by a lady here in Spain.
My Blythe girls and Olive received four pairs of very pretty tights and some tiny pink socks. I've not tried those on anyone yet but the fabrics are great...I'm sure the girls will love them!!
And finally I received four tiny wigs that I'd ordered from Kemper Dolls in the US. I wanted them for my little Elfdoll Monnaemi Sisters. I bought three Heidi wigs which have two long plaits and one which is supposed to be like a little page boy style. The plaited ones are nice and I'll take some photos soon, but the other one is horrible, the wig cap is so weird, it's like as if it's already been stretched out of shape and is way too big for the little 2-3 inch heads that it's designed for. Oh well, another wig to be banished to the wig box and unused!!!
So that was my day....!
Yay for some dolly time before you have to head back to reality. Olive looks great with her matte face, she must be one of those girls who is happy on the inside, without letting it shine through.
ReplyDeleteI like the new wig on your Rheia, although I'm sure she would look good in just about anything. She's a sweetie. I can never seem to keep the same wig on a doll for more than a few months. It just seems like they itch for a change (or maybe I do, lol).
LOL I think you're right, bearpicnic, Olive keeps all her emotions well hidden....well except for her sadness, that seems to come through quite well!! I'm really pleased with the matt face, it is so much nicer me thinks!
DeleteGlad you like the blond Rheia, I'm the opposite to you in that I tend to want to find their 'look' and then keep it that way for quite a while. Some of my dolls have the same 'look' forever....I must be incredibly boring!!!
I have to admit that I know nothing about these dolls but have certainly enjoyed their poses in these photographs. So thank you.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to live so close to the sea.
Ditto! I do admire them though, I think Olive is extremely cute! Nice way to start the day which is freezing cold and snowy!!
DeleteThank you Kendal....well if you ever want to know more, just give me a shout!!! I'm very good at 'enabling' LOL And yes, it is lovely to live by the sea, but we go back and forth, sea, moutains, sea, mountains. We should have stayed by the sea this week as it's absolutely bucketing down with rain in the mountains!!
DeleteThanks so much Ronny, glad you like Olive!
DeleteI saw the snow in Sussex on the news....WOW....it's March!!! Where is your spring????
Stay warm and safe!
It is the shiny surface of my two Blythe girls that puts me off them, as you say it is more difficult to photograph. Your little Olive looks good now, even if she won't give a smile of gratitude in return ;-) Hope the return to 'reality' isn't too difficult! At least your temperatures aren't as cold as ours.
ReplyDeleteThe blond wig looks good on Rheia.
That's exactly why I customised all my Blythes, Lorraine, I really didn't like the shine. You can get rid of that shine if you carefully rub them in circular motion with a Magic Eraser/Sponge, but you'd lose their blush too, but once they're matt, so you could then use pastels to give them new blush.....
DeleteOh the return is cold and wet! Well not mega cold but definitely very very wet!
Thanks on Rheia's wig, she's going to be a blond for now anyway!
Sounds like lovely packages to come home to! And Olive looks lovely with her new, less shiny, appearance. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Randomfish, glad you like her new matt look! And yes, it was great to come home to the packages....certainly nicer than all the bills that also arrived!
DeleteThanks for the glimps into another Dollworld! Please don't get me hooked! I seem to have an addictive personality (according to my Doc), so don't want to add another addiction to the ones I have already! But these dolls are quite enchanting! Nice to be able to be at a seaside at this time of year! Lucky you! love karin
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome Karin and thank you for your nice comments!.....Sadly I have that same addictive type of personality I think....though it's not been confirmed by my doctor, I'm pretty sure I have it, which is why I have so many dolls and eat so much naughty stuff!! Thank goodness I never took up drink or drugs!
DeleteIt is indeed really nice to be able to go to the seaside all year round, it is usually about 6 degrees centigrade warmer down on the coast at this time of year, so we make the most of that. We had days when it was 20C last week, whereas here inland it's about 15...which feels very cold to me. I'm afraid I'm a hot weather person for sure, I really don't do cold anymore!!!
