Wig changes....

Today I got all my wigs out, and my goodness I have loads of the darn things!  I thought I'd change two of my Fairyland girls wigs.  My normal skin Ante, Fiona, has nearly always had short hair, I love short hair on her, but today I changed her to a long wavy mixed blond wig.  I like it but not sure how long it will stay!  I also tried a short wavy brown one too but decided that she really is a blond, or at least fair haired child!  Forgive the poor photos, I was sitting in the shade as I didn't want my BJDs in full sunshine, and my camera wanted to use the flash so I had to turn it off.....I really need to get my tripod out!!

The second girl to get a wig change was Chloe, my tanned Fairyland Mini Fee.  She has already had a few hair colour changes since arriving here but I wanted to try her as a brunette.

I really liked the one above but finally settled for the wavy brunette one below.  I might go back to the plaited one at some point, but am happy with her new look for now.

Thanks very much for stopping by, I hope you all have a really lovely Easter which hopefully good weather and loads of chocolate!!!

A Great Dolly Week!

The past week brought some great dolly activity here in Spain and so I thought I'd share with you on my blog.

Firstly I made some overall sets for the Wichtel dolls and as you'll have seen on the previous post, the first set sold immediately....then so did the second set, even as I was cutting the last few threads! ;)  So both those sets are going to live in the US on Monday.  Here is the second set:

I think I prefer working this way, making something and then (hopefully) selling, rather than having a commission list as it makes me feel less pressurised.  I can also sew for the dolls I want to rather than those I have to.

Next I received a couple of very cute dresses in the post from a lady in the Netherlands who sells under the name Hello Blue Hare on Etsy.  The dresses are meant for Blythe but I knew that Sam, my little Elfdoll Hana Angel would be itching to get her hands on them when they arrived, and I wasn't wrong!  Here she is modelling one of them today when she took her skateboard out for the first time this year!!!  (Tights and boots are both for Blythe, hat is old now but was made by an ebay seamstress for a Lati Yellow doll, sunglasses are from Robert Tonner for Sindy, skateboard is one of those fingerboards from the local toyshop!).  I love that Sam is able to wear Blythe outfits so well now that she has a Jerry Berry resin body.

And finally, I have mentioned before on here that I wanted a new faceup for my tanned Little Fee Ante as I'd not been over keen on her Fairyland default face.  It wasn't that the faceup was ugly, not even remotely, but the shine under the bottom eyelashes and around the mouth just bugged me.  So I asked an old friend of mine, Olga, who customises Blythes under the name Vainilladolly, if she would give her a new faceup for me.  I visited with Olga yesterday and she has made my girl look absolutely gorgeous!!!  I'm sure you will agree!  And as well as that, Ante, who was previously called Marisol, now has a new name!  From now on she will be called Tyrone!  I know it's generally thought of as a boy's name but I love boyish names for my girls :)   I also made her a new smocked top especially to celebrate her new look!

I apologise in advance for the profusion of photos but I couldn't resist sharing her sweet face and couldn't then decide on which were my favourites!!!!

In this photo Tyrone was fed up with all the photos and wanted to get back outside in the sunshine to play!!   "Just a few more sweetie!"

"Be careful Tyrone!  I think you're getting a little bit too daring!"   (Little Fees really are the BEST posers!)

I know I'm prejudiced but isn't she beautiful!  I love Olga's faceups, her and Ravendolls are my very favourite faceup artists :)  It was also great being able to enjoy some dolly chat with Olga and share a smoothie in the sunshine!!

So that has been my dolly week!  I hope you've enjoyed reading about it and hope that you all have a great weekend and that the coming week is also good for you!!

Big hugs, Sharon xx

Happy St. Patrick's Day.....

Now that I am the proud owner of a new Irish passport, I feel it is even more important that I embrace my Irish-ness and with it, take the opportunity to wish you all a very Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!

As I child and into my adulthood I was always part of my family's St. Patrick's day celebrations, even on a school night!  All day long my mum would be boiling up crubeens (pig's trotters), tripe and onions and lambs tongues, all 'delicacies' that my dad and his friends loved, and these would be wrapped in foil or put in plastic containers to take out to the local Catholic club in the evening, when a fair few pints of The Black Stuff (Guinness) would be consumed to accompany the Irish dishes!!  I'll never forget how greasy everything would feel afterwards, door handles, tables, glasses...YUCK!!!  And no, despite my new Irish citizenship, I've never acquired the taste for any of the above!

Here is a little Irish Blessing for you!

I don't think I have any dolls clothes in green but here is Marisol wearing shades of turquoise....it is after all, the colour of the Irish Sea when it's not stormy!!!!

Who knows, one year I might even have clothing for my dolls that reflects 'special occasions'.....but it's highly unlikely as I'm not that organised!!!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend and that the week ahead is a great one for you!

Big hugs, Sharon x

Out and about with the Two Antes....

Today I took the two Antes, Fiona and Marisol, with me when we went out for lunch (my goodness, does it seem like we're always going out for lunch!!!!  It's just that this is when I take the dolls with me for photos! Honest! )

The weather today was really bright and sunny, but it was sooooo windy and the wind was really chilly.  However, it didn't stop us taking a detour up to the top of a cliff to take some photos of the view.  It wasn't till I took the dolls out of the car to photograph them though, that I realised just how windy it was.....poor Fiona nearly lost her wig!!!!  And my camera was jiggling all over the place being tugged by the wind!  (That's my excuse and I'm sticking with it!;) )

The water looks really chilly...

Not many people on this little beach today!

Even Fiona looks cold, it's a good job she has on her nice warm hoodie.....

Sheltering from the wind, the perfect spot to catch her breath after the climb...

Where she is joined by Marisol who had opted to stay in the car whilst we went to the top of the cliff, as she'd insisted she'd not be cold without her cardigan!

Back at sea level again, most small towns have a place where locals can go and collect drinking water from communal taps.  The water points are either natural stone with a trough or highly decorative Andalucian tiles like this one below!  Of course the water that comes from the mains taps in our houses is completely clean and drinkable these days but some people still like to collect their drinking water from a local water point.  Often the water comes from a natural spa so people prefer the taste.

Since she learned this 'sign' Marisol seems to want to do it in every photo I take nowadays ;)

Well we are already almost one full week into the New  Year......and I have already taken two lots of dolly photos in public!!!  Must be a record for me!

A bit of dolly play time....

After a bit of a dodgy week health wise, I had a molar tooth implant screw inserted into my upper jaw which caused a 'serious' sinus infection, then the antibiotics or the analgesics for that caused some sort of bad reaction),  today I thought I would relax and have a little dolly play.  I've been deciding who would come to the UK with me in a few weeks time, amongst my BJDs that is, because my Sashas are already decided on....I think!!!

My two Fairyland Little Fee Ante's are coming with me and so they wanted to get themselves ready early so that there isn't a rush at the last minute...well not for them anyway!  Fiona, my normal skinned girl, wanted to wear her new hoodie which I got from Iplehouse and she teamed it with grey spotted leggings and red canvas Mary Janes.  She looks nice and cosy for colder UK weather, but I think she might be hot here until we actually leave!

My tanned Ante has been struggling with finding the right wig but today she tried a few out and I've finally decided which one she will wear.  However, I don't have a full length photo of her wearing the correct wig, so here she is showing you the outfit she has chosen to wear.  It is a multi piece outfit by the Asian seamstress SugarBabyLove, I love this style and one day will get around to making outfits for my own girls in a similar style.

My two Antes have very different style...

After tanned Ante's outfit was chosen it was back to the wig.  I've tried all the wigs I have down here at the coast but none of them hit the spot for me.  However, I had a new Monique Gold Tessie that I'd intended for her but it just didn't look right.  I decided that instead of just leaving it in the packet I'd have a go at seeing if I could 'do' anything with it.

Here is the default wig.

Now I do like my dolls to look like 'real' little kids, and real little kids play and get their hair messed up but this wig had a life of it's own.  The long pieces at the sides were just too long for my taste and the two plaits were hidden behind, out of the way.  So I decided to untie the plaits and redo them, including the long strands from the front.  Once I'd done that, I thought I'd cut a shorter fringe into the front, a little bit long, like a style 'between cuts' maybe?  So I took the pointed sharp scissors to it and just carefully snipped along the eye line, being careful not to cut off her eyelashes!!

And here is the end result.   She still has some shorter, chin length loose pieces but they frame her face rather than hide it:

So what do you think?  I'm really pleased with this look, I think it's child-like and natural.  The Monique Gold wigs are great, they are just enough thickness of hair to make them look realistic, and they are silky soft, but sometimes they just need a bit of a tweak!

Now all this poor 'child' needs is a name!!!  I was thinking Mari-Sol?  Mari (pronounced 'marry') for short?  Because she could so easily be a little Spanish girl, couldn't she?

Thanks for looking, I hope everyone has a lovely week ahead :)
