I have been absolutely itching to have a go at making something dolly related using my new sewing/embroidery machine and at the weekend sewed a few designs that I've now made into tee shirts. The first one is a simple design of a camera using just one colour, I chose black thread and sewed it on to grey marl knit fabric. Initially I wanted to reduce the size of the design but in the end I did it in it's original size and am actually quite pleased with how it came out.....I was concerned it'd be too big for a doll tee shirt but then again, real kids wear big, medium and small designs on their clothes and so dolls needn't be any different!
Here is Emily, my Goetz Happy Kidz, wearing her new tee shirt. I used an American Girl pattern for the top and think next time I would prefer it to be less 'fitted' as Emily has a bit of a pot belly which is emphasised by this shape!
I made the rest of the outfit previously but Emily thought they worked well with her new tee shirt.
Here she is posing by the sea which was quite stormy and choppy today, although the storm never did happen!
Thanks for visiting, have a lovely week everyone!
Cool! This is a great design! I can't wait to see what else you are going to make! xxx
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda, glad you like it. I wasn't sure at first but it grew on me!

The sea is matching the grey sweater, great pics!
ReplyDeleteI'm bit envious of your machine-skills :) Please play again and show the results!
I know, isn't it so grey! It was quite rough too but not cold, then later I thought it was going to be stormy, I could hear the sea from my bed....then the rain came about 4am and lasted a couple of hours but was soooo heavy. But then later it was nice again.
DeleteI will certainly keep playing, I'm loving this new machine :)

Love these photo's of Emily by the stormy sea. And what a great T shirt, Love the big camera on it, I agree children wear motifs of all sizes on their clothes, so so should our dolls.
ReplyDeleteLove the colours and the outfit is beautifully fitted and so creative. I'd best start saving for when I get to the top of your list, MY list is now getting bigger!! Hugs :)xxx
Thanks Dee, glad you like the photos and the tee shirt.
DeleteHopefully it'll not be long till your reach the top, I will have to take a look at my little book of names!

That's a stylish looking top - and with that colour it's perfect for what looks like a cool day at the seaside. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you very much JS, glad you like it!
DeleteIt wasn't too cool but today, it has been really bright and sunny but quite an icy wind...definitely not my kind of cold!

Loved the word 'playing' rather than 'experimenting' with the new embroidery machine. Great result so please carry on 'playing' and then showing us!
ReplyDeleteLOL yes, 'playing'...love it! I promise to keep playing and will share the results on here :)
DeleteThanks Kendal!

Fantastic Sharon.
ReplyDeleteAs they say here - there'll be no stopping you now!
Thanks very much Rosie, glad you like it!
DeleteUnfortunately, loads of things seem to be stopping me getting on with more embroidery....honestly, do we really need a clean home, clean dishes, cooked food? Couldn't we just sit in the dust, eat sandwiches off paper plates? ;)

That's brilliant Sharon X
