Sunday morning at Lake Viñuela...

This morning we went for a walk down by Lake Viñuela, the weather was lovely and bright, about 21 degrees centigrade, and I took my Goetz Happy Kid Emily with me because she wanted to show her second new top that I'd embroidered for her.

The top in question is made of black fleece and because I used an American Girl pattern I wasn't happy about the sizing, plus it was a little short in length for her, so I had to add the white fabric as a sort of 'skirt' part......I'm not over keen on the whole thing except for the cats, next time I'd prefer to embroider them onto dark coloured sweatshirt fabric instead, I think they'd look much nicer.  Plus the fleece just attracts every hair, piece of fluff or dust!!!

We took a different route today and I have to say it was SCARY!  The road was very steep and there were no crash barriers, just sheer drops down the side of the road......and a lot of very tight hairpin bends!  Not a route I'd like to drive again in a hurry!

The level of the lake is incredibly low at the moment as we've had such a dry year.  I think it's going to take an awful lot of rain to fill it to previous levels......

Thank you for visiting, I hope you all have a lovely week ahead!

  1. What beautiful scenery Sharon and it's 20c here too , mind you that's INDOORS ! :) outside it's about 4c...
I do love your Emily, my Clara should arrive sometime later this week.
I think you saved the top well, that little white thrill looks quite cute against the black and the checked leggings.

The twin cat embroidery looks lovely, I bet you are having such fun trying out your new machine.
Enjoy your week don't even think about the fact that the temperatures heading down over here, you just put on your cardie and we'll put on our ugg boots, winter coats and big scarves and fight the cold ;) xxx

    1. THanks very much Dee, glad you enjoyed the photos and the sunshine. I know you'll enjoy your Clara as they are such sweet dolls. I'm also glad you like the top, I'm not impressed with it but do like the embroidery so might do another similar one soon, well once I get some black sweatshirting fabric.
      Keep warm!

  2. Hi Sharon,
It's 39c here and your beautiful scenery of the lake is a welcome relief!! Ugh, don't you just hate those sort of roads, I am hopeless with heights. My poor hubby has to put up with me saying "slow down, don't go so fast" when he's probably only doing 20KPH, those hairpin bends are so scary.

Love the top, it looks great you have done a brilliant job of the cats! I bet Emily is feeling quite chuffed. :)
    Hugs,
    X

    1. Thanks very much Xanadu, if I remember rightly you're downunder in Australia, aren't you? We have temperatures like yours in the summer, I just love the heat! And the short winters, perfect for a wimp like me! I hate the cold.
And yes, those roads are not my favourite, a few swear words did slip out, I admit!

  3. I'm always totally amazed at just how many different kinds of dolls you have in your collection! Until having seen your posts here I never even knew that SO many even existed. My favourites though are your Little Darling Dolls who are just perfectly delightful in every way.

You definitely seem to be having some fun with your embroidery machine. These two cats are so sweet. Looking forward to seeing more of the designs.
The surrounding scenery is stunning although the driving up there might be a little too scary for me.

    1. Ssssshhhh Kendal, don't tell anyone about all my dolls! ;)
I love my Little Darlings too, I have to get them photographed again soon. They are in summer clothes though, as the clothing box is at home and we're not! But I guess with our weather it doesn't really matter too much does it!
Yes, the machine is great fun...there just isn't enough time to make all I want!

  5. Emily looks so cute with her new outfit. That hat is adorable as well! I think the outfit turned out great! I can see what you mean about the fleece picking up every little thing. Our last dog was a white American Bulldog and everything I owned that was black had a fine layer of white fur all over it, lol. The scenery is so beautiful there and it's so fun to get all of these "insider" glimpses of Spain, without having to be there! The weather sounds perfect.

    1. Thanks very much Farrah! The hat was actually knitted by a lady at our local market, she makes them for premature babies and I bought two some years ago thinking that they might fit one of my dolls. They were too big for the dolls I had then, but thankfully they have finally found a home!
Yep, my life has a layer of dogs hair on it.....most of it is from Suki, my 'blond' long haired Chihuahua, but you can guarantee that if I'm wearing something light, one of the others will jump on me!....and they are dark!
      Glad you enjoy my photos!

  8. What gorgeous scenery - That lake is so blue!

I love how that one pick cat on the top works pops when it's paired with that hat - love the way the colours pop together.

  9. I think the top looks great. But as a doll seamstress myself I can see how you would be frustrated if it didn't match your expectations when you sewed it.

Driving in that area sounds like driving in the mountains of West Virginia.

    1. Thanks Barb! And yes, you'll understand! I had an idea in my head and it stayed there, didn't materialise into the garment. Oh well, tomorrow is another day as they say!

  10. I love her new top! It is always annoying when the fit isn't quite how you pictured it, but it really does look cute on her. :D

    That road sounds quite nerve-wracking!

  12. Emily looks so sweet on these pictures, that little doll face is really cute, she has something special to me :-). The outfit looks beautiful with the cats! I can imagine that it's a bit frustrating to work with such fabric that attracts all kinds of unwanted things that stick on it :-D. It does look great on the pictures though! Yeeeps for the road, I really am very scared on roads like that!

    1. Thanks very much Linda, glad you like the look of her in these photos.
Me too on the road, especially as there are no crash barriers, and the drop is steep. I remember about 13 years ago being on a similar road here in Spain and my hubby was driving....we met another car coming towards us and we had to reverse back down the road several metres, I swear to you I aged 10 years that day!!!!

  13. I love that sweater/top! Love the cats, the little "skirt", and the shape of the neckline. Sweet doll!

That sounds like the kind of road I get Gord to drive and I walk the scary parts. Hahaha (Be careful!)

    1. Thanks very much Jano, I wasn't sure about the 'skirt' part but it didn't look right without anything and that cream stuff was all I had!!
I have to say that I do not like driving those roads much at all, and yesterday I made a similar mistake of thinking "ahh this looks like an interesting road" ..... never again!!! (Until the next time I suppose!) It's OK until someone else, who knows the road well, decides that you're driving too slow and wants to pass you!!!
