A new outfit for Becca by Paola Reina...

Whilst I was in the UK I thought I'd have a look at the newly released Sindy who is available at Tesco supermarkets.  The famous teenager doll of the 1960s onwards has been reproduced but this time instead of being a small fashion doll, she is now an 18 inch child doll aimed at much younger girls I would think.  The doll herself does not appeal to me in the least, she has a flat bland face in my humble opinion but I did buy one of the outfits that are available separately as I thought it was quite cute and might fit one of my other dolls in this size range.

The outfit I bought was called simply "Sindy Winter Outfit" and cost £11.95.  It consists of a pink fluffy jumper/tunic with a silver vinyl heart applique, pink and white sort of snowflake patterned stretch knit leggings, a pink puffed sleeveless body warmer with a turquoise lining and collar, this does up with Velcro but has silver snaps on the front, just for show, pink fabric boots that do up the back with Velcro, pink nylon fabric 'mittens' which are actually not shaped in any way, and are edged with the fluffy fabric and a pair of fluffy pink earmuffs!  A lot of PINK!  Although Velcro wouldn't be my first choice, remember this is an outfit made for young children so would be great for them.

However, the outfit is quite cute and well made and I tried it on my Paola Reina Becca who is approx 17.5 inches tall and is from the Soy Tu range of dolls.  The fit is great and I think it looks good on her even though some people would not dress a redhead in pink :)

She decided to wear it to the beach yesterday because although it was bright and sunny, it was a little on the cool side.   I hope you'll agree that the outfit does look sweet on her!

(Someone asked me if this outfit would fit Sasha dolls.  I've not tried yet but think it would probably work for the later larger dolls, but I will try it soon).

Happy Monday everyone!  It's pouring with rain here today.......!

Dolls for Sale....Having a clear out!

Once again I'm feeling overwhelmed by the number of dolls living here and have decided to have a bit of a clear out.  I thought I'd offer these dolls here before putting them either on Den of Angels or Ebay.

I have two Volks Yosd sized kids up for sale.  Yosds are fully jointed BJDs, are approx 28cm tall, and made in Japan from resin.  Volks were the first company to offer resin ball jointed dolls and are very well known in the bjd world.  Volks Yosds were only ever available to purchase by people who attended their special events in Japan or by lottery at 'after events', so they were never available to purchase on-line for example.  You had to either attend the event or have someone else who was attending, purchase one for you.....and the numbers were limited.

The first is Volks Yosd Papi who is from March 2007, and has a custom faceup by myself.   She will come nude with a wig and eyes of my choice, not necessarily those in the photo below.  Volks dolls are extremely good quality and very well made.  This doll has a Volks box but it is not her own one, it actually belonged to another Volks doll that I sold, accidentally swapping out the two boxes!!  She is in very good condition and has her original Volks brass plate still attached to the back of her head plate.  Now on Den of Angels.

The next doll up for adoption is also a Volks Yosd, this time a boy called Neon who was released in March 2008.  He is also in very good condition with his Volks brass plate attached.  He too will come with random eyes and his default blond wig shown in the first photo below.  He comes in his own default box and I do believe I still have all his papers.  Neon is now SOLD.

Up next is my Prima Dolly Ebony Blythe by the Takara Company in Japan.  A light tanned girl, she has been fully customised by myself, I have carved her mouth, nose and philtum.  She has been given new eyechips, sleep eyes, new pull rings, new eyelashes and her eyelids have been painted using bronze craft paint.  She has all new makeup with tiny freckles, using good quality artists pastels and sealed with Mr Super Clear Flat.  Her middle part black hair has been given a fringe/bangs.  She will come nude in a Takara Blythe box.

And next we have the little Paola Reina girl that I recently gave a makeover.  I think she is called Carol.   I like her but I prefer the little Asian girl that I had first.  So this little girlie is up for grabs.  She has been thoroughly cleaned and her default hair removed.  I gave her a nice dark blond Leeke World wig which I cut into a chin length bob as I thought it suited her better.  I also removed her existing plastic eyes and replaced them with good quality oval flat backed blue glass eyes, which I think bring her more 'alive'.  She has also had her spridery default eyelashes replaced with some nice natural looking upper lashes.  She will travel to her new home nude.  Price £30 plus postage.  NOW SOLD - 07/07/15

Finally today, I have a former Euro Girl who some time ago I made into a Euro 'boy'!!!  This genderless vinyl doll was given a short haircut and her eyebrows were made a little more 'boyish'.  I've had this doll for several years but I have probably only dressed him twice!!  Poor lad is looking for a home where he'll get a bit of the attention he deserves!!  He will also travel nude to his new home, all ready for dressing as a boy!!!  As you can see he has the cutest little face with hazel inset eyes and two teeth showing in his slightly open mouth.  His back, just above his bottom, is a bit concave...I have no idea if this is normal as I can't remember him ever having been any different from when I got him new several years ago.  He also has faint staining on his upper arms on the inside from the outfit (s) came in.  Now on Ebay.com.

I accept paypal only, personal payment/gift preferred.  My home is smoke free but I do have my little dogs but they don't play with my dolls.  All items will be packaged well and travel via certified mail.  I ship worldwide.  Please email me if you require further information or more photos, my email address is: dambuster0662@gmail.com

Thanks for looking!!!

ALL  DOLLS IN THIS POST HAVE NOW SOLD - THANK YOU!

Sisters....

The day that I found my little Asian girl at the Imaginarium toy shop, I thought she'd be just pefect with another little Asian dolly I had at home.  I can't remember who the little baby/toddler girl is made by, but like the bigger girl, she is made here in Spain.  When we came home from the coast I knew I was right, the two of them are perfect together and make great sisters!!  The bigger girl is called Jasmin and the little one is called Mai....and look Mai even has her own little Asian dolly too!

The flea-market find makeover...

A couple of weeks ago I showed a little Paola Reina doll that I got for 10 euros at the Saturday flea-market in Los Boliches, Fuengirola.  I had given her a wash and she was wearing a sock on her head (and whole body!!) to flatten her hair down.  Well she ended up wearing the sock for days, then when that didn't work she progressed to a hat.  Finally, when I removed the hat after a week....her hair was still sticking up in the air and looking awful.  It was nice and soft at the back but the front was cut exactly to accommodate the headress that she came with.  So I cut the lot off.  I know....incredibly destructive but I was so mad that I couldn't do a thing with it.  And because I'd done that, I thought I might as well remove her spidery eyelashes and her plastic eyes and give her the full works.

She now has a revamped wig, more realistic glass eyes and new eyelashes.   I just noticed that her eyes are a bit wonky though!  I will try to fix that.  The funny thing is, the eye holes have to be softened with heat from the outside and pushed in from the front, they sit in a sort of 'pocket' and are not accessible through the inside of the head!!

Not a great photo, her face is a little bit out of focus!!

She looks like she's got incredibly long arms in this photo!!!  (She hasn't!)

I like this one, she looks young and baby-faced!

Here is a before and after comparison, I should really have taken both photos in similar lighting so that a 'true' comparison could be seen as I've not changed her lips or blush but it appears that way in the 'after' photo:

I was thinking that perhaps I could reroot her back to brunette as her head is quite soft so it might be nice and easy and not take very long.  We shall see!

A flea-market find!

This morning we went to the big flea-market in Los Boliches, Fuengirola.  We made the effort and got up earlier...and let me tell you it was an effort, as Kara, our littlest Chihuahua had one of her epileptic fits late last night and she had me up and down nearly all night long!!!  Anyway, that aside, we were fortunate enough to actually find a parking space this week having arrived quite early!

First, we headed for a little Danish restaurant for some breakfast.  They do a lovely Danish breakfast for just 4,95 euros, consisting of all Danish products, including crusty roll covered in poppy seeds, butter, ham, cheese, cucumber, green peppers, tomato, a very dark bread, half a Danish pastry, home-made strawberry jam, a slice of fresh orange and a cup of coffee!!!  Delicious and just the perfect way to start the day!!!

And with nicely full stomaches, it was on to the market!  As usual a lot of the stalls are full of junk....I've thrown better stuff away!!!  But today I found a little treasure, a 12 inch tall Paola Reina doll for just 10 euros!  She was wearing her full original outfit, which is her 1st Holy Communion dress, including underwear, socks and shoes, as well as head-dress and little matching bag.  She smelled dusty but she wasn't really dirty at all.  In fact, I believe that her outfit had never been removed.  I have since removed her clothes and given her a wash, she has no damage and is in perfect condition.  Her hair was very dusty and I've washed and conditioned it, she's now wearing a very attractive sock on her head, poor girl!   I've also washed her outfit, the dress has come up quite clean but her socks and knickers are a bit yellowed from age.  I will put the outfit away because I intend making her something more suitable when we go home.

These are some 'before' photos, I will take some 'after' ones tomorrow when her hair has dried.  She will look very cute with my little Asian girl from Imaginarium, that I showed on here a couple of weeks ago.

So all in all, well worth missing that little bit extra time in bed this morning!!!

A funny thing happened.....

A funny thing happened today when I was out shopping.  I wandered into a toy shop called Imaginarium which carries wooden train sets, educational toys, and very cute toy replicas of  kitchen equipment and foodstuffs!

It was in this particular shop that the 'something funny' happened.  A little voice from the top shelf called out to me to take her home!  It is not often that I'm drawn to 'play dolls' that are available from toy shops, but this little girl really appealed to me.  She was on special offer at just 30 euros, which was an added bonus, so I decided to bring her home.  And she was 'made in Spain'...so I'm actually helping the Spanish economy too...can't be bad, eh?!!! :)

This little Asian girl is approx 32cm tall, all vinyl, and from the Nicoleta range of dolls.  She has shiny black hair in two pigtails, very dark almost black inset eyes, and the cutest little button nose and rosebud lips.  What I also like is that, unlike the caucasian girls in this range of dolls, this little one didn't have attached eyelashes, and I think the result is much more natural looking.  A bit of research leads me to believe that she is actually designed by Ruth Treffeisen and probably made by Paola Reina dolls here in Spain.

She has thick rooted hair which is nice and silky, although would probably benefit from a wash to get rid of that slight stickiness that doll hair often comes with.

I don't like her eyebrows all that much as they are a bit simply drawn compared to how nice her lips are painted, so I might fill those in a little with watercolour pencil when I go home.

Her outfit is also very cute.  It is made up of denim shorts over a pair of grey knit tights, a long sleeved tee shirt advertising the doll range and the stores logo "It's Magical" and a very cute pair of 'leather' boots in grey with fur around the tops.  She also has a little bag with the same logo as the tee shirt.  All the pieces are well made.

I decided to call her Jasmine, after the flowers that are all in bloom here at the moment, as you can see in the photo below.

Other outfits are available separately for around 12 euros a set, but I do have lots of patterns that could be adapted to fit her.

And the funny thing is, I have a little Asian baby doll at home who might be the perfect little sister for her!
