A little orange!

I had the urge to make something with a piece of fabric that I bought recently.   I have absolutely nothing in orange for my dolls and it's not a colour that I'm ever asked about.....so I made a very short, simple, summer dress using this orange and white cotton and edged it with orange rick-a-rack.  I intended for it to be this short because I love the Sashas legs!!  I  made her a headband from some ribbon and she made herself a necklace and bracelet with a couple of orange slice beads.  Bailey is happy!!!

Gotz girlies.....

I took some photos of my three slate eyes Gotz girlies to compare them.  I can see now that my newest girl, the blond Destin, has chubbier cheeks than the other two but that they really only show from a three quarter profile view.....from the front her face looks narrower.  Destin also has the most 'preserved' eye paint, although her lip paint is almost gone.  When I see them straight on like this,  I think Destin looks like a slightly younger child than the other two.  However, when viewing them in profile, I think they all look pouty and young looking!  I think Lindt, my brunette girl, is fractionally smaller in height than the other two but it's hard to tell as she is barefoot.  Another difference is that Destin and Lyric have bigger shoulders than Lindt...and definitely bigger than the English girls and boys.

Here's a closeup, with left to right, Destin, Lyric and Lindt...

And individually, closer still.   You can see Destin has quite large cheeks, as does brunette Lindt:

And here you can see that Lyrics cheeks are less pronounced:

Another close up of the three girls together:

And a full length of all three girls:

I'm very happy with these three girls, I now need to decide if I want to reroot Lyric or leave her wigged....decisions, decisions!

A bit of sewing....or maybe a LOT!

I have been incredibly busy sewing for the last 5 or 6 days as I wanted to catch up with my orders after my 'visitors' break.  Yesterday I finished a small part of my latest commission.  I wanted to wait until the lady had seen them before putting them on here.  Thankfully she is happy with the photos, so I thought I'd add a bit of colour to my blog!  I hope you enjoy!

I wasn't able to have a row of girls modelling together as we didn't have enough appropriate shoes with us, so the girls were photographed individually...sorry for lots of photos!

First up we have Bailey modelling a cerise pink and white set, with polkadots and tiny flowers.  Even her socks have polkadots!!

Next up is Gabrielle modelling a second pink set, the skirt fabric is covered with tiny deep pink roses.  This set comes with a pale pink tee shirt and pink edged white socks.

Here we have Wren modelling a yellow set, the skirt fabric has tiny little bumble bees printed on it and one has flown off and landed on her hairband ;)    And I finally found some yellow fabric with polkadots for the socks!

The second yellow set, which is really more of a lemon, is being modelling by Gabrielle.  I say 'yellow/lemon' but this has a lot of white too, the tee shirt and the lower frill of the skirt are both snowy white!  Socks are pale lemon to match the skirt.  Gabby really has too much hair for a hairband!!

And now we have the blue sets!  Wren is modelling the first of the two blue sets, it's a bright sunny turquoise blue tee shirt with the same colour reflected in the pattern of the skirt fabric and the dots on the lower frill of the skirt.  Turquoise and white striped socks go with this outfit.

Bailey is modelling the second blue set, this one has a pale baby blue tee shirt and the blue skirt fabric has tiny pink flowers on it.  The socks are pale blue with pink lace tops.

And lastly, something for the boys.  The lady requested a couple of pairs of knit shorts in brown and navy blue.  These are pull on with no pockets.

All outfits are already SOLD. Thank you for looking!

Who is this....? A newbie in Spain???

No, no new Sashas here at the moment, I'm more than happy with my group....but who is this little girl?  Perhaps she slunk in when no-one was looking?!!

It is in fact my lovely little Lyric, a Gotz girlie from the mid 60s!  I couldn't bear how much more of a baldie she was getting, and I've almost exhausted my search for hair of the same colour to re-root her, so I decided to cut her hair off and give her a wig.  I haven't got a lot of wigs in this size and wanted to keep her as a blond, so that left me with just two choices.  A Monique Gold Ginger in Golden Strawberry that really has seen better days, or this one, a Monique Gold Roxie in this very pale Peach Blond.  I decided to go with this one for now, although I would like it in a slightly darker blond.  Unfortunately, unless you try and get a 'custom' colour direct from Monique Trading Co, there are only four choices in colour for this particular style. However, I was thinking that I might look out for a dye for synthetic fabrics and see if I can darken it.....although I'm reluctant to ruin it, so shall see how it goes!

I do like this style on her though, I think she looks sooooo cute and I like that she looks more 'pouty' than she did before....I love pouty looking dolls!!!

Here are a few more of her sweet little face....well I say 'few'...maybe I should have said 'a whole bunch'....I just couldn't choose which I liked best!!
