First bit of sewing for the New Year!

I don't usually make real resolutions for the New Year because invariably by the end of the first week I'll have broken them all.....and then I get all annoyed with myself and often will go completely in the opposite (read 'wrong') direction!  But I did say to myself over the last couple of days that I would get some sewing done again and this time I would get out of my 'comfort zone' and use some of the patterns that I've had ages but never, or rarely, used.  So today I did just that and I made my new girl a pair of jodhpurs!  I've had this pattern for as long as I have collected BJDs but have never used it, so now I have!

I would like to have used a beige twill or at least heavy cotton for these but didn't have any so soft fine corduroy had to do!

I hope you like them on my new girl, Fairyland Mini Fee tanned Chloe, who is trying out a different wig for a little while.  The jumper in the photos was a gift many years ago from my lovely friend May who was a wonderful knitter.  Sadly May died a few years back, so all her knits are highly treasured by me and my dolls.  The suede flat cap is also something I made many years ago now (yes, I never seem to throw anything away!)  The shoes are from either Releaserain or Mimiwoo, I can't remember which!

Thanks for visiting, have a great week everyone!

Big hugs Sharon xx

  1. I love the second and third pics. She looks like she's standing in front of one of those old fashioned elevators.

  2. Oh! I remember wearing jodpurs just like that only as you say, mine were made of beige twill with a suede inset and worn with a yellow Polo neck jumper under a Harris Tweed riding jacket and the hard black velvet hat.
A great fit on her too! Perfectly styled pockets. Clever girl!
Nowadays they are more like skinny, stretchy jeans.

    1. Thanks very much Kendal. I remember my brother's jodhpurs were a sort of thick stretch fabric...not knit but some sort of synthetic fabric and they were light beige. I didn't have much plain fabric that I could use so Chloe got cords!

  4. Very well done, and a perfect fit! She looks so stylish, now all she needs is a horse.
Whoever made those shoes, they are a good match to the outfit.

    1. Thank you very much Ursula, I'm glad you think so.
Yes, she really does need a horse but the ones I have here are either too big or too small, maybe I will start looking out for one for her :)
The shoes are great aren't they! So realistic.

  7. I love your new girl and what great jodpurs and I love the sweater you have teamed it with. It's so funny you should say you have used a pattern that you have had for ages ! Since the new year I have finally cut out the pattern pieces from one pattern I have had for a good few months and another I have had for a good few years!!
But that's as far as I have got! I may go look through my massive stash of fabric tomorrow and think about taking the next step.... lol
Great shoes too! Perfect for her look :) xxx

    1. Thanks very much Dee! I have a ton of patterns here that I've looked at and looked at but never done anything with so maybe now is the time to do so. And yes, the fabric too :) although I have loads that I think I'll save for that 'something special' but never do anything with it.
