First Sewing of 2018....

Yesterday I made a start on an outfit, my first bit of sewing this year, and decided it would have to be for Galina, one of my Junior Zwergnase girls who came to live here in November 2016, and had been wearing her default outfit since her arrival!

So she now has a new outfit and I'm sure was happy to get out of her original outfit and have a change!

I have just been and bought some yellow crochet cotton to make a crocheted flower for the front of the beanie hat.....I just need to find a pattern and learn how to do it!  I was also thinking that perhaps I should tie some yellow crochet cotton around the pointy 'ears' on her hat or tassels?  Maybe she needs a crocheted bag too!!  I hope I'm not being overly ambitious! ;)

Have a great weekend everyone, I plan on doing more sewing!!

Hugs Sharon xx

  1. Love it Sharon! Great colour combination too. I'm sure you'll be able to make that flower and bag.
The owl necklace is lovely too! Nice to see you sewing again :) xxx

    1. Thank you very much Dee, I'm glad you like it. I often struggle with these Zwergnase girls because they suit a certain style, the style that Zwergnase put them in, and I'm trying to get out of my comfort zone and find a similar style....I hope this goes a little way towards it.

  2. Oh, I would love to hug that little dollie - so cute! Adorable clothes and I am into pom-poms! But tassels work too. Hope that you succeed in crocheting a flower. Or two. Have tried, do not know what went wrong. Better try again. :)
    Happy weekend! Hugs!

    1. Thank you Niina, hasn't she got the sweetest little face! I am going to go with tassels or pom-poms, I'm just doing another outfit but will get back to the hat really soon.
I'm afraid the flower didn't materialise, I think the thread I bought was waaaaay too thin and as a result the flower was tiny and so I kept getting in a muddle with it! I'll have to look out for something thicker, maybe even knitting yarn.

  3. Hi Sharon,
I love what you have done with Galena, the outfit has given her totally new look. The spotted tights and matching hat are really cute and I think a crochet flower will set it off beautifully. In regards to the crocheting I don't think you will have too much trouble with the flower or the bag, there are plenty of tutorials on the net to help you out.
I'm glad you started sewing again, you've inspired me to pull my finger out. :)
Hope you are enjoying your weekend.
    Hugs,

    1. Thank you very much Sandi, I'm glad you like it. I did find some tutorials and they were great but I need thicker yarn, something that will crochet up quicker than the thin thread that I bought! I will keep you posted :)
I'm glad you are now inspired to sew, but I knew that you've been knitting loads so you have been busy!

    2. Darn I just wrote a long reply to you and then hit the wrong key and it disappeared.
Thanks very much for your lovely comment, I'm glad you like the outfit and that I've inspired you to sew again, although I know you've been knitting furiously so haven't exactly been idle!! I did find some good tutorials so will learn how to do the flowers but for now need to buy thicker thread or maybe even knitting wool as the flower was coming up very tiny!

  4. I love it!
I think it gives that Zwergnase feeling, without being a copy. Tassels on the hat would look even better.
    Could steal the owl necklace...

    1. Thanks very much Ursula, I'm glad you love it and yes, that is exactly what I was trying to achieve, the Zwergnese feeling/look, which I've found challenging in the past, but I love the look they give their girls and boys, so I will keep trying this style :)
I think it's going to be tassels or pom-poms in the end!
The owl came from a scrapbooking pack, I will have to see if I can find some more!

  6. Love these colors together. If anyone can learn crocheting by self-teaching, it is you my talented friend. I look forward to seeing your results! 😊 XXX

    1. Thank you so much dear Ginger! And for your confidence in my ability to learn to crochet! Actually I can do basic crochet but I'd never done any flowers before and have chosen the wrong size thread, it's too thin, but am working on that!!
