FOR SALE

Autumn already!!!

It's been more than a month since I last wrote anything here on my blog but now that the evenings are darker, I'm more inclined to be sitting inside using my laptop, rather than outside so thought I'd do some catching up!  I don't like putting the clocks back, the sun sets here at about 6.30pm and I thought that was bad enough until my son, who lives on the south coast of the UK, sent me a photo this afternoon at 5pm UK time, and it was completely dark!!!!  We are very lucky here to be honest, as even in the middle of winter, it never really gets dark before about 6.15pm.

That aside, the weather here has been beautiful.  The temperature during the day is still in the low to mid 20s centigrade, so I really cannot complain.  I think waking up to bright mornings with blue skies and lots of sunshine really does help my frame of mind. And it has certainly made my morning walks easier to get up for!!!

On the dolly front I have been busy.  I have recently sold another 6 dolls and a Super Dollfie sized body, so of course that money was burning a hole in the bottom of my paypal account.  I ended up buying two dolls, one was an impulse buy and the other was a doll that I have wanted for absolutely ages but had not been able to find within the EU and I was not prepared to buy from elsewhere as I didn't want to get caught for customs charges.

So the impulse buy is by an artist that I've admired for a while but never thought I'd find one of her dolls for sale within the EU.  She is a Madeleine by the Australian artist Liz Frost and she is approx 12 inches tall.  Madeleine is a tan resin ball jointed doll (BJD) and I adopted her from a friend in the UK....I am thinking that I might give her a new faceup or at least partially redo her as I'm not sure about her current blush.  We shall see.  The good thing about this doll is that she can share the clothing belonging to the Little Darlings, so that gives her a lot of options as they have a lot of clothes!!!

Here she is on arrival day:

The second doll that I bought recently is one that I have wanted for AGES!  I mean a really long time!  Probably since she was released back in about 2011.  I remember wanting to pre-order her but again the customs charges put me off as she would be shipped from the US.  So I decided that if I was to get her then it would be secondhand ... but each time she was for sale within the EU, so I was broke!  In the end I sort of moved on.  However about three weeks ago I saw one for sale on Ebay and she was being sold in France.  The seller had stated she'd only ship within France but several messages later she was coming home to me!  She is just what I was looking for.  A Kaye Wiggs Gracie in sunskissed skin tone with a default faceup.  She arrived last week and she is just so incredibly cute, I'm really glad to have found her and can honestly say that she was worth the wait!!!

Also my new body (I wished!!!) arrived for the Dandelion head I bought back in September.  I bought this head actually as a full doll but I didn't like the body so I sold that body and ordered an Elf body from Dollstown.  Now I'm very happy with her new look.  I took a few very quick photos of her when the body arrived and some photos of the head on the first body....

And some quick photos of her with her new body.  I will take more detailed photos soon.

I quickly made her this blue top but need to make her more of a wardrobe of clothes, as I don't have much in this size :)  I'm actually looking forward to sewing in this bigger size again after years without a Super Dollfie sized doll, even if she is actually considered to be a 'smaller super dollfie'. 😉

There are some other 'newbies' here but I will leave them for another post.  I hope you've enjoyed seeing a brief post of what I've been up to.

Have a great week ahead!

Hugs Sharon x

  1. Hi Sharon! Thanks for the walk along the beach today, I really enjoyed the stroll. :)

Love, your new additions, as you already know I am a big fan of Liz's dolls and have a Willowmenia currently on order. You were lucky to get your hands on Gracie, she is probably one of my favourites of Kaye's creations, such a gorgeous face.

I'm not familiar with the Dandelion head, is that her name or maker? She is a stunner! I'm really pleased to see you bringing home some dollies, now I know the worst is over and things are getting back to normal for you.
    Big hugs,

    1. Hi Sandy, I'm so glad you enjoyed the stroll, it's been so warm here over the last few days, high 20s centigrade, which is much warmer than normal for early November.
I'm glad you like the new dolls, I think Liz's dolls are very nice quality.
I'm very happy with Gracie, and yes, such a great find :) I'm glad I took a chance on the seller because she was bloody hard work!!! :D
Dandelion is by Bimong, the guy who makes Narae sculpts. I forgot to put that in my original post DOH! Thanks so much for your kind words
Big hugs to you too xxx

  3. Hi Sharon! Gracie looks adorable! The photos of the last doll in front of those plants look fantastic, as well as the beach photos.

It takes me a while to get use to the change from daylight savings, but I actually love it. I love autumn and winter, they're my favourite seasons, but maybe because here we have very mild winters.

Hope you have a great week ahead too!

    1. Thank you so much monstercrafts, I'm glad you like my new girls.
I agree, it takes me a while too, especially in the evenings, I always feel that it's so much later than it actually is, and so do my dogs!!! They keep thinking it's time for bed when it's only around 9pm!
But yes, the mild winters here are certainly an added bonus and the fact that they are very short....I really cannot complain about Spanish winters at all :)
      Have a great weekend!

  4. Hello S! Well, it looks a lot warmer where you are than in Scotland where I am! Hope all the dogs are well and you are bearing up after the loss of Choco. We recently lost a tiny teacup Chi called Pixie she was so small , she was 18 months old and weighed just 600grams, miss her dreadfully, she died in her sleep which I am told is not uncommon in tiny teacup dogs, like your loss it was a real shock. Nice to see you are dolly buying again...you little tinker!

    1. Hi Ronny
Long time no hear from! I hope you're well and yes, I do believe it is a lot warmer here than in bonny Scotland, what on earth came over you to move somewhere so chilly! All are well and yes, they seem fine without Choco, thankfully the way dogs minds work they have already moved on. It's harder for us though, isn't it. I still miss him dreadfully and yet it's been more than 3 months now. I'm really sorry about your little Pixie, what a horrible shock that must have been for you to find her like that. 600g is just no weight at all, is it :(
      Sending big hugs xxx

  5. Those landscape photos and the beach ones are beautiful. Very serene. I see why you enjoy your morning walks. I wish I could get up that early but I tend to sleep in on days when I'm not needing to be at work. Here in summer, it gets dark around 7pm and in winter around 5.30pm. We have really long summer days here.

Congratulations on your new dolls (and body!). They look adorable. Kay Wiggs dolls always have such cute little noses. She does those really well.

I have a Dandelion head too but I think mine was the one that came with the SD body. A friend of mine gifted the head to me. I haven't been able to get a face up on her yet but planned to have her on my Souldoll body when it eventually happens! I like the face up on your Dandelion!

    1. Thanks so much for your lovely comments Alasse, I'm glad you liked the photos.
I have been really naughty over the last few days as my husband hasn't been well so I have not got up early to go for my walks...I must get back to it though or I won't do it for the whole winter.
Oh you must get your Dandelion head done, it is such a nice sculpt. Mine came with this faceup but she had a more orange-y blush so I removed that and redid it in a more pinky tone as I prefer that colour. I darkened her eyebrows and added some eye shading. Now I'm just about to order some eyelashes for her.
      Have a great weekend!

  6. Sharon you are so lucky to be able to walk along the coast! I know I'd walk more if I could stroll along by the sea! Such beautiful photos of the sky and ocean.
How nice to have some new dolls arrive after selling off a lot more! I do love the Kaye wiggs dolls and your Gracie looks really sweet!
I love the last doll, the dandelion girl, her face is just so real ! But what is a super dollfie sized doll size?? lol

Glad you are now fired up to sew for your new girl xx

    1. Thanks very much Dee, it is lovely to be able to walk on the beach every day.
I'm very happy with Gracie, she's on of my favourite sculpts from Kaye I think. I always wanted her and finally there she was on Ebay! I just had to have her ;)
Ah Dandelion is actually what would be called a 'small SD' or 'small super dollfie', she is 53cm tall in her bare feet. Some dolls that are also referred to as Super Dollfie size are waaaay into the 60 something centimetres and some even as tall as 70s!! Thankfully she's smaller, so not really that much taller than the big KW girls that you and I both have. I will have to take some comparison photos soon.
      Have a lovely weekend!

  7. I love your new girls. How tall are they? They look fairly big.
Ken's niece and her fiance' spend half their time in Spain, and the other half complaining about the weather in the UK! I still like my change of seasons. On the other hand, as I get older, the cold is worse on my aching back!

    1. Thanks so much Tam. Gracie is about 45cm, Madeleine is about 34cm and Dandelion is 53cm :)
I think that Ken's niece is pretty much like most Brits who come here, but they tend to complain that they're too hot then they go back to the UK and post on Facebook that the weather is horrible and they wish they were back in Spain again! LOL Whereabouts in Spain do his niece and her fiance spend their time?
I'm not too worried these days about change of season, I enjoy other people's photos of snow, I'm quite content not to have any, although it does make for good doll photos!
Yes the cold is definitely worse for aches and pains. I'm afraid I'm a complete wimp when it comes to the cold....give me warmth any day! ;)

  9. What a beautiful photos from the beach! Thank you for sharing.

I envy you that your night starts at 6 pm... Here in Poland there will be much worse, dark at 3 pm... For a short time (two-three weeks), but still.

All three new dolls (well, two dolls and a body ;)) are absolutely wonderful. I especially Like the third one - she has such a gentle face.

    1. Thank you very much Kamelia.
It used to be the same in the UK, if the weather was miserable, it would be almost dark not long after 3pm, but definitely by 4pm...I hated it, it made me feel so sad, almost depressed. I like that here we have such short winters and that our nights are not too long.
I'm glad you like the newbies here :)

  10. Hello and greetings from a sunny, but frosty Sweden! There is some snow on the way here and it has been so cold! Winter is coming!
I enjoyed your photos from the beach, looked so warm with the sun and all. But I can imagine it was not so warm.... :)
Beautiful new girls, congrats! I was a bit bamboozled by the size for Madeleine! She looks so much taller!
    Stay warm!

    1. Hi Niina, thanks so much for your nice comments. It makes me feel very chilly just thinking about your snow country, but I do like the look of snow, it makes for great photos, I just cannot stand the thought of being caught in it, I am a real wimp these days with it gets cold.
Actually it was really really warm on the beach those mornings, what I would call 'short sleeve weather'! It's still very nice in the sunshine but in the shade there definitely is little bit of a chill in the air, we're expecting 21C for a few days this week, but it's probably about 19c average at the moment.
Yes Madeleine is quite short, she was actually shorter than I was imagining too!!!
