Last minute sewing....

During the last view days I finally started, and finished, my raffle prize donation for the Sasha Celebration Weekend  being held in the UK from the 13th to 15th May.  I had promised Janet, the organiser, that I would send something as a prize and had every intention of doing so, but my goodness the time passed so quickly that I didn't realise the event was almost upon us!  So I'm relieved that that is done and will be sent off this week :)

Here is my lovely Wren (1969 Sasha Kilt) modeling for me.  The skirt fabric is from Santoro, London,  the company who produce the Gorjuss range of goods,  I really love the designs they produce.   I've added a second layer of white broidery anglais to the skirt because not everyone likes their girls in such short skirts as I do!!  A headband in the same fabric as well as appliqued tee shirt and black and white striped socks, completes the set.

I hope you like it and hope the winner will be happy with it too!

Well I hope you all have a lovely week ahead and that spring has sprung where you live....unless you're in Australia of course ;)

Wren amongst nature....

Here is Wren modelling a new outfit that I finished today for a commission, comprising of my new pattern for a all-in-one or 'body' with puffed sleeves, ra-ra skirt, hairband and socks.
I thought she looked so pretty in these colours that I had to share.  And of course she gives the flowers a run for their money when it comes to beauty!!!

Wren & Ellory .... two girls who stayed at home....

Both Wren (1969 Kilt) and Ellory (1979 Redhead White Dress) wanted to come with me to the UK as they wanted to visit with friends at the Chat n Snap.  Wren was all ready to go, she'd chosen and changed into her outfit, had her hair washed and combed....she even had her passport ready.  Unfortunately though, with just days to go, her stringing seemed to give way and the poor girl was a sobbing heap :(   I did quickly restring her but I decided in the end to leave her at home in case she embarrassed herself by collapsing on the day!  Whilst I was at the CnS I spoke with Brendan about sending her for proper restringing, so that will probably happen in the New Year.   In the meantime, I thought I'd share some photos of Wren and Ellory on here, both girls are ready for colder weather!!

(I've actually been practicing using my 'light tent', which is the real reason for these photos!)

A bit of sewing....

Today I had one of those days where I really wanted to sew but the list of things I've got to sew couldn't be started as the fabric I need for them is at home!!  So because I didn't want to lose the momentum, I decided to make something from a couple of dresses I got at Primark last week.  I made a very simple tee shirt shape and then added a couple of 'frills' to the bottom, and I used the 'ready made' edging from one of the dresses to edge the neck and sleeves of this dress.  I'm not sure that I'd do that again next time as I think it added length to the sleeves that I didn't want.   I thought it looked quite nice on Wren, particularly as I photographed her just as the sun was getting a bit lower in the sky....it gave her a nice golden glow.  No shoes and socks though, she is a bit of a 'free spirit'!!

I quickly added a strip of the same fabric around her hair just to hide how untidy it is at the moment with all her modelling!  She was, of course, mortified that the piece of fabric isn't edged or anything!!!!

(Sorry that there are so many similar photos, I liked them all and couldn't choose!)

Life's a beach.....

I finished sewing an outfit today that has a 'nautical' theme to it...well the fabric of the top has anchors on it, does that count as nautical?  I thought I'd take Wren down to the beach to photograph her and was glad I did.  The beach was completely empty and it was really lovely just sitting there listening to the waves.  It was a bit windy so Wren fell over a few times in the sand and her sand in her hair and a bit windblown but I think she enjoyed herself.

Wrens hair ribbons were tied nicely before we got to the beach but she soon had them hanging down!!!

I was a bit worried that she'd ruin her lovely JJ sandals but they're made of sterner stuff and survived her jaunt on the beach!

Wren has such a dreamy look in this photo!
