Summer Sashas...and Gregor too of course!

Since my family went back to the UK, I've had a little bit of dolly play time and decided that it was time that my Sasha girls and Alex, my brunette Gregor, got some summer play clothes.
I've already shown Ellory, my redhead, in her new summer dress but I crocheted a hat to go with it because being a redhead she has to be careful not to burn her scalp!!

Maggie, my shy little brunette puddle eyed girl from 1973/4, got a new pair of loose cotton shorts and a tee shirt to match.  I can't recall where I got this fabric, but it has modern flowers and Russian dolls scattered over it, so I cut out one of the dolls and used it as an applique for the tee shirt.  Maggie has falling hair but as long as I'm careful not to brush it through, it seems to be fine at the moment.  I think I might make her a head scarf so that when there is a sea breeze she'll not need to worry about her hair!

Alex, my brunette puddle eyed boy, also from 1973/4, has a new shirt which I made from quilters cotton.  I got the fabric in a fat quarter bundle recently and Alex chose this for his shirt because he likes the little boats all over it.  He is wearing it with his grey Dolly Doodles knit shorts and blue denim sneakers....and he finally got his denim baseball cap back after first Ellory, then Millie, borrowed it from him!

Finally, Millie my blond girl from 1971, has a new pinafore in stripes with polkadot trim.  She wanted to wear the lime green Boneka sandals with her outfit but they'd already been claimed by Maggie....who may be shy but she's not slow in getting what she wants!!!

Left to right: Maggie, Alex, Millie and Ellory

You will notice that there is someone missing from the current line up!  Gabrielle, my later brunette in Pink Dress from about 1979, is currently on her way to visit Shelly in the UK...well actually her head is travelling on it's own to save on postage!!!  Shelly is going to paint her some beautiful new eyes as her default/original eyes are particularly flat.  As my blog followers might remember, I did do a bit of work on them myself but because I used artist pastels and didn't seal them, they soon started to fade back to how they were before.  So Shelly will hopefully work her magic on her and she'll be perfect!

I do have two new girls at home who are waiting to make their debut but because they are there and I am here (at the coast) they will have to wait their turn!!!!  I'm excited to see both of them in the flesh and can't wait to share their photos on here!

  1. Lovely clothes Sharon, I do love Ellory's especially great colour.
I hope your Gabrielle's box does not get opened by customs! I could just image their faces when confronted with a severed head!!
Hope we don't see her one the news!! lol
Cannot wait to meet the new girl's :)

    1. Thanks so much Dee, glad you like them. I agree that Ellory looks really nice in this blue, goes with her tan. I must make sure she doesn't overdo the sunbathing though! ;)
Hopefully customs won't need to open the box....I don't think they do open them within the EU, do they? Otherwise they'll get a bit of a shock!!

  4. What lovely outfits. I really like the striped pinafore. Do you use Grandma's Patterns or cut your own?
Looking forward to seeing your new girls and your repaint!
    Best wishes

    1. Thank you Rosie! I used the Grandma pattern for the pinafore and both shirts (Millies white one and Alex's boat one)and the cap. I adapted some other patterns for the other things. I don't mind making my own patterns but sometimes I get so lazy and just want to use something that is already done for me! LOL

  5. Your Sashas/Gregor look great out there enjoying the sunshine in their new, brightly coloured Summer wear.
Love all the different styles and colour combinations perfectly chosen to suit each doll. You've certainly been very busy with your sewing machine and fabrics, obviously 'making hay whilst the sun shines!'
Looking forward especially to seeing your new brunette girl (not sure who the second new doll is) and the Shelly customised eye painted doll when she returns home again.
Will they be having some new Summer clothes too?

Meanwhile will you send some of that beautiful sunshine over here?

  6. Thanks so much Kendal, glad you like the kids in their brightly coloured gear. I have to say that I do like the bright colours in the sunshine, because they show up well, whereas paler ones do tend to get washed out in the sun.
I am just about to blog about my two new girls! They were brought down to the coast here for me yesterday by my son. They do indeed have some new clothes to wear!!
I will try my best to send you some sunshine and warmth in a padded envelope...we do have it in abundance here!!

  7. What a beautiful family! I specially love the look of your brunette girl in those fabulous dungarees - the green suits her perfectly. I'm going to look for some fabric in that shade for my new girl, Wren. She has her head, but her new hair is still at Shelly's! I still need to pay for her braid wig.
I wish I could take such lovely photos as you do. Do you find the light in Spain is helpful? The best photos of my children when they were little were taken when we were visiting family there.

    1. Thanks so much Jenni, I'm glad you like the kids and their outfits! I look forward to seeing your new girl when she's home with you!
Thank you also on my photos! I do indeed find the light good here, it is very 'clear' and I can get some really sharp photos depending on my 'subject'....but sometimes it can be too bright and I find it a bit of a challenge to actually get the colours right, and sometimes the Sashas faces come out really really dark....I have no idea why though!!!

    1. Thanks very much Lorraine! Yes, they really love the sunshine, as most kids seem to do! They like to be able to play outside all the time and we are lucky enough with the weather that they can.....they are all now as brown as berries!! LOL ;)
