Lyric gets Autumnal....and Bailey gets new hair!

Although the weather is still beautiful here and the temperatures have been hovering around 30 centigrade all week, I thought it was time to dress some of my girls at least, in something more 'autumnal'.  I made a couple of long sleeved shorter length smocked dresses from a couple of nice cotton fat quarters that I bought locally, and added some leggings to this particular one plus some 'slouch' socks, and these really cute brown leather boots by Ruthsdolls!

I'm not completely sure that this fabric is Lyrics 'colour' but she agreed to model it for me anyway!  Sorry about the stray hairs, I daren't fiddle with it too much in case it breaks off!!

Also today I took some photos of Bailey in a new lambswool wig which I commissioned from Mary Madeco-Smith on Facebook.  The wig is lovely, very long and curly, but I have to be honest and say that I'm not sure it is 'her'!!  I think that I actually prefer her in her dark blond wig that she's been wearing recently, as I feel this one makes her look a bit too 'grown up'.  I do hope that soon I'll attempt to reroot her, but until then, I think she'll go back to her dark blond plaits.  However, this wig won't go to waste because I hope it'll fit one of my BJDs and will try it on her when I go home.  Anyway, I welcome your opinions!

  1. I like Lyric's new outfit!

Bailey looks lovely in the wig, but I liked the last one too! LOL Maybe this one needs a hairbow or hairband to give it a "younger" look?

    1. Thanks so much Randomfish! Glad you like her outfit.
I know what you mean about needing 'something'...I'm just not very good at 'decorating' dolls hair...I will have to see what I can come up with! And that's just it, she needs to look younger, like the little girl in the dark blond plaits!!!

    1. Thanks so much Dee, glad you like it! And you like the wig too? That's great, it's getting a few 'thumbs up'...I will have to rethink my opinion of it on her! I've left it on for now so that I can get used to how she looks. I'm thinking that she just seems so different now, maybe I just need to get used to it!

  3. Gee! Thanks for my 'Gotz' fix S...I can sleep happy tonight :)
As for the new wig, I really like it. I love it because it doesn't look like a wig, it looks like un brushed kid hair that is wild and free and hasn't seen a comb for a few days...it actually makes her look like a little tomboy!! My older sister had the exact same hair when she was little, and yes she was a tom boy :)

  5. If I hadn't seen Bailey in the blond braids, I would have thought this wig, with it's wild abandon of curls, perfect. I am partial to the younger look of the braids.

Lyric's outfit is adorable - I love the happy look of the polka dots, and the sturdy little boots are great for tromping through Fall leaves.

    1. I think that's it, Janet, if I'd seen her in this one first, I'd probably have stuck with it, but I fell in love with the blond braids look too! I'll have to swap her hair about as the mood takes me I guess!!
Thank you on the outfit, I'm glad you like it. Those boots are so cute, aren't they! I want more now!!!

  6. Lyric looks lovely in her new outfit, I like it on her and as for stray hairs, all young girls have wisps of hair flailing around their face after playing :-)

I have had two friends as a child with hair like Bailey's new wig, and they used to look just like this after a day being outdoors playing! I like it, but I also liked the other one. Decisions...decisions..

    1. Thanks very much Lorraine, and yes, you're completely right about the hairs....I was just so scared that she'd loose them if I tried to put them across the top of her head!! Poor girl, she's not got much on top as it is!
Yes, decisions, decisions! It's hard to choose, I really love the wig but is it her!!!

  8. I just adore Lyric anbd her latest cute poses in her new 'Autumnal' outfit. Love the leggings, such a perfect fit and length for wearing under the short little smock. I have a couple ofvpairs of these Rithsdoll's boots and think that they look quite trendy wore with these sort of outfits. Bless her little heart. She can come and live here any day.

Bailey's wig is 'beautifully' wild and wonderfully un-ruly but I feel it would suit her more if it could be tinned in the crown area somehow to get rid of that bulk which tends to over-shadow her sweet little face.
Adore the colour and how it ends in those cute little twisted corkscrew curls.

Hope that this helps and good to have you back blogging as have missed you.

    1. Thank you Auntie Kendal, says Lyric!! She is glad that you're so fond of her!! I'm also glad that you like the outfit, the leggings were ones I'd made a few weeks back, she has 'borrowed' them until I go home and have more knit fabric to work with. I didn't think we'd be down here at the coast for more than 2 months so although I have lots of cottons, I have very little 'knits'!

So another vote of confidence for the curly wig! I am going to have to leave it on her and get used to it. I know what you mean about the crown, this is where the problem lies for me, there's a 'dome' to it that I'm not happy with. I think I'll either resew the seam or use white glue to stick it to her head in the hope that it'll flatten it down a bit. I agree that having too much hair like that on top, does overshadow their faces.

I admit though that I would like to have natural curls like this myself!!!

Aww thanks, Kendal, it's nice to be missed!!!!
