Little newbie!

This little one arrived yesterday from the UK having been adopted from Ebay a couple of weeks ago.  She was, in fact, a 'he', a Gregor with white elastic in both arms and legs, so I believe dates to about 71-72.  The poor boy was in a bit of a mess.   Firstly, he was FILTHY!  His face and body were really dirty and his brunette hair was awfully 'crunchy' and falling, so I removed it easily as it was literally breaking off at the roots.  However, that wasn't even the worse of his problems.  He had a nylon stocking/sock over his head which had a very unpleasant odour about it....but worse was to come.  The sock, once removed, had a clear and distinct dirty footprint on it!  As you can imagine, I was NOT impressed.  So the boy has now had a thoroughly good scrub but he still smells weird, like some sort of 'gone off' floral smell, which is quite cloying and unpleasant.  So I think he'll need to have the 'cat litter' treatment done on him in the hope that it will go away.

In the meantime, I restrung his arms as the elastic had gone all loose and I put a wig on him and he is now a 'she'.  I have also bought another wig for her and soon she will have outfits of her own.    I think she's a cute, shy little thing and think she'll fit in perfectly here with the rest of the dambuster dolls!

  2. Oh dear, sounds like quite an unpleasant arrival experience, however, you have done wonders with him/her....although I still see a boy...why is that I wonder? Tge wig looks great and I think she will settle in very well indeed.

    1. Ahhh now you know that expression "never ask a lady her age?" .... well it's a bit the same for dolly collectors!!! Actually the numbers have stayed the same because this one replaces one that I sold!!!! Does it count if the head left but the body stayed to join another head??? ;-)

  7. Gorgeous face but I do think a boy should stay a boy!. Although if people keep changing the boys into girl's my boys will be worth a fortune owing to their rarity !!! So go right ahead !! :))

    1. Thanks Dee. Well I know what you mean but really it's only just a few eyelashes that make all the difference, isn't it? I might add some one day...or maybe he will remain a boy...it really depends on how the wig that I've ordered looks on him, it could go either way!
I think you need to send Zac to me for a holiday and then I can decide!! ;)

    2. I am afraid Zak and his cute butt will have to stay well away from you for safely reasons :)

  8. As cute as she is with that streaky blond wig, I think there is still a shy little boy lurking underneath it. Would yu be open to trying on a shorter wig, just to see?

    1. There is currently a very stinky boy not hiding at all at the moment Janet!!!! I haven't been able to get the cat litter yet, but he's definitely going to end up in some very soon if this weird flowery smell doesn't leave!!!!
I have another wig on order, I hope it will suit him more, and then I will decide what to do with him ie whether he will remain a 'he' or 'come-out' as a 'she'! Until I see him wearing the wig, I really can't be sure.
