Finally finished!!!!

I finally finished all my sorting out this morning.....I'm sooooo relieved, it took me more than a week but now it looks lovely and neat and tidy!  I feel extremely pleased with myself and my decluttered room!  All that remains on my work table, apart from my sewing stuff and my dolls, are the skirts I started on before I went on my mammouth clean-up!!!  I will hopefully get to finish those this week!

I ended up taking more than 550 photos of fabric, which was then individually bagged and boxed.  I have sorted by colours and have sent 3 very large sacks and one medium sized one for recycling, I've filled two large sacks with rubbish which was taken away last night (our rubbish is collected every night except for Saturdays and Fiestas, thankfully!!).  I had to laugh at my photos though.  The last few, taken yesterday, are so different from the rest....I couldn't get to the iron or the ruler, so the fabric was all crumpled up in the last few photos!!!

Thanks for all the words of encouragement!!!!

My work table with my Sashas and Natterers watching over my work!

My yarn is now neatly stored in a box on top of my display unit.

My IKEA storage unit, each drawer now contains one colour of fabric...the rest is stored in big flat boxes under my work table.

Now to get on with the sewing!!!!

  1. What a feat! Well done you for enduring it and finishing, all looks very neat and tidy and organised now. A task that I have to attempt at some stage - currently have to squeeze past things to get to my sewing table...but have other things I am currently working on in the decluttering attempts.

    1. I must admit Lorraine that I now am looking at other places around the house, thinking that I could do some more of this....however, I'm sure the feeling won't last!!!! I'm glad it's done though, I feel very pleased with myself! And it all started because I was looking for something that I'd put "in a safe place"!!!!!!

    1. Well, Kendal, they would be, but I sent all the fabric that I WAS going to use for making bunting, to the recycling!!!!! Honestly, I kept asking myself "bunting? why on earth would I want bunting?" but kept the fabric "just in case!" But I'm feeling a lot 'lighter' today, in more ways than one! ;)

  3. Well done Sharon - now my own mountain doesn't seem quite so insurmountable (although I've a way to go yet!) My Sashas seem to be looking down from their shelves and laughing at me as I plough through the mess of yarn and fabric and general 'stuff'' rapidly spreading all over the floor, and even preventing me from reaching them at the moment! Your accomplishment has spurred me on when I felt like giving up. Thanks so much!

  4. It now looks so nice Sharon! Well done you must be really pleased to have finally done it! And well done on actually managing to send so much to recycling! That's always the hard part getting rid of what you really do not need.
Now you will be inspired to sew lots of lovely things to sell and also to dress your dolls in, I look forward to seeing the results. :)

    1. Thank you Dee! It's so nice to be able to walk over to the window without feeling like I'm walking on an obstacle course!!! And I even cleaned the windows inside and out, so I'm even getting more light in!!!!!!
I hope to get back to sewing tomorrow and lets hope I come up with something that people will like!

    1. I really do Anna!!! I will try my best to keep it nice. I'm more inclined to do so when it's neat and tidy like this.....the room wasn't too bad before Christmas, but when my family were due to come over, I, and my hubby and son, are more inclined to put things in there that don't really have a permanent home for one reason or another, so it really gets to be a bit of a dumping ground. Of course after the family leave, hubby and son don't retrieve their things and I'm left with a mountain of stuff to return to them!!!!

    1. Thanks Nikola! I will try to put some closeups on here very soon.....just need to do a few other things, you know what it's like, I'm sure!!! I must say though that it is far easier keeping it tidy once it's all sorted out......famous last words!
