The Rain in Spain.....

Don't be fooled into thinking that the rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain!!!  It actually falls very heavily on the town too!  It doesn't rain often here though, we have an average of more than 300 days of sunshine per year.....but my goodness, when it rains, does it rain!

Today it rained....and then came the hailstones!!!

The drains can never cope!!!  Sometimes this round heavy metal manhole cover actually pops in the air with the force of the water!

And so on, down the hill it all goes, where it stops, nobody knows!

But whilst our street was flowing with water like the Rio Grande ;) just across the olive groves the sun was shining and the neighbouring towns were enjoying a bright sunny spring day!!!

Alas no dolly time today, but tomorrow is another day!

    1. Thank you! Yes, we're surrounded by lots and lots of olive groves, as far as the eyes can see...olives are big business in this area!

  3. Well it has certainly been raining cats and dogs where you are S!! I don't suppose the chihuahuas fancied venturing out in that weather :)

    1. LOL, when it rains here, it really does!!!
No, a couple of them ventured out the back door which opens onto the covered part of our patio, they moved forward and poked their heads through the gate into the garden proper....then came immediately back in and leaned against the radiator!!!!!

  4. .....and there I've always been led to believe that 'The rain in Spain stays mainly on the plain!'

Wow! 300 out of the 365 days a year are sunny. Hard to imagine for us living in the UK! Mind you having said that I'm not much for the hot sun preferring the warmer, but not so hot weather of Spring and Autumn.

    1. Exactly Kendal!!! It's a great big lie! It falls on my street too!
Yes, we do have a lot of sunshine, all through the winter too, but obviously in winter it's not that warm unless you're in a sheltered area, then it's lovely!! Admittedly in the summer months it's gets soooooo hot here, but I absolutely love it!!! I wouldn't change it .... well maybe I'd have it a bit hotter in winter!!! But thankfully the winter is very short so it's not so bad!

  5. Your street became a bit of a river there! It's always funny how it can be raining (or snowing) in one part of town, but not another... LOL

    1. Yes, it's like the Rio Grande sometimes because it's very steep! Before they put the roundabout at the very bottom of the hill, the two bars that are there, were regularly flooded in heavy rain as the water just rushed straight down the hill and straight in to their properties, but the roundabout redirects it now!!!
