One out.....errr one in!!!!

I always used to try keeping to my own 'rule' for myself, one doll in, then one doll out....until Sasha came along it was working so well, but I must admit that particular rule has fallen by the wayside a little, over the last (almost) two years!

Having said that, I have been good recently and although I did buy a couple of vinyl 'play' dolls, I have also sold one of those, and also a couple more of my BJDs, so I felt justified in 'treating' myself to this new girl who arrived today!

The new girl in question is a light tanned vinyl 'play' doll from the Maru & Friends range of dolls.

Tany's page on the Maru & Friends website.

From the website: "Maru is the true story of a young Hispanic girl, separated from her parents because of political discord, who leaves her native land (Cuba) to go and live with her estranged uncles in America.  Maru must adapt to her new surroundings and her new way of life."  The website goes on to tell the story of how she meets and becomes friendly with a number of young girls from "different cultures", which is where my new girl comes in!  Her name is Tanya and as I already said, she has light tan skin.   Her eyes are inset hazel acrylic and very pretty with long attached eyelashes.  She is actually sculpted by the artist Dianna Effner who also sculpted the Little Darlings, of which my Ellie is one.....so I expected this new girl to be nicely done.  She is much bigger though, being about 20 inches tall compared to Ellie's 14 inches.  Tanya is also wigged, which is great because that does leave lots of options for change, should I get the urge!  The doll is very good quality and the vinyl feels nice and smooth.

Her default outfit, consisting of jade green long cardigan with tie belt, matching leggings, white cotton knickers, white cotton vest and black leatherette calf length boots,  is lovely and very well made, but it being knitted, had to come off in this heat. I also added a second outfit to my order but that too is a 'cold weather' outfit with boots.  She tried out the ra-ra skirt outfit that I made recently for my Zwergnase doll of roughly the same height, but Tanya is wider around the hips and waist than Marlee, but at least I now know what adaptions are needed to my pattern for her.  The tee shirt is a good fit, so no adaptations needed there, thankfully.  Hopefully though, soon she'll have some things of her own to wear!  In the photos below she is wearing Sasha shoes made by Ruth of Ruthsdolls, they fit her perfectly, which is great as I have several pairs of Ruth's nice footwear.  The Jean Jenson T bar shoes are just the tiniest bit too small and I didn't want to force them on, but they would fit fine without socks.  This is great as I have several pairs of Sasha shoes that she could borrow from my Sasha kids....I'm sure they'd not mind....after all, I can see them borrowing Tanya's boots at some point too!!  I do believe Super Dollfie sized shoes should fit her too and will try them once we go home from the coast.

And now for some photos:

  2. She is very nice Sharon and it's good that the clothes you already have mostly fit, especially shoes, it's good when they can share!.
A friend of mine was looking at these dolls, if she buys one, I'll be able to have a closer look at them.

I am trying that one out one in policy!! Only problem it seems I have one out three in!!! May need to work on that!! :)

    1. Thanks very much Dee, and yes, 'mostly' fit....the back edges of this skirt though are about 2.5cm apart! LOL it's a good job she came with knickers! But a bit of adapting is all that's needed thankfully.
The doll is very well made and the outfits are lovely, finished so nicely. I only bought a winter outfit though and her default outfit being also a winter one, well poor thing was cooking in her box after her journey from France!!!
LOL your policy is more fun though, wouldn't you say!
      Hugs Sharon xxx

  3. I love that second photo with the light catching her eye.

I've never seen this line before, but she's lovely. And what an unexpectedly detailed back-story!

    1. Thanks very much jSarie, glad you liked that photo. And yes, very detailed story, and apparently the person who Maru herself is supposed to represent, actually helps design outfits for them from what I've read!!
I wonder is somewhere in the US there is a Tanya who was part of this story!!!

  4. For ME I would have much preferred to have seen a NEW Sasha pictured here but I guess it wasn't to be!
Nevertheless I much prefer her to your Zwergnase Junior, Marlene. She has very pretty eyes on similar lines to Ellie's and I do like her hair wig, very 'girlie!'.

I was surprised to read and see that her Sasha sized shoes fit her with her being so much taller (20cms) than them.
Would love to see a photo of Marlene, Tanya, a Sasha and Ellie standing together when you have a spare minute to see and compare their proportions with this latest addition to your doll family. Thanks if you can.

    1. LOL you and your Sashas Kendal!!! I just fancy a change now and again, stops me from getting bored, plus having to sew in all different sizes takes me out of my 'comfort zone'! Making new patterns, adjusting existing ones, it all keeps the old brain functioning properly!!!! It also drives me nuts sometimes, but that's another story!!!!

  5. Oh, Tanya is lovely! She looks much prettier in these pictures than even on the website. :D I think she may be in a tie with Maru now for my favourite in this doll line...

    1. Thanks very much Lynn, and yes, very much prettier. I wanted one before I saw 'real life' photos, then I saw someone using a Tanya as a model for clothes on Ebay, I decided she wasn't for me, then I saw more photos and changed my mind back again! I'm glad I got her because I'm very pleased with how she looks!

  6. She is very sweet, Sharon. It will be good to have two of similar size. I DID look at Jamie in this range as a gift for Mum but then another Sasha decided she was going to Adopt-A-Granny, instead...

Like Kendal, I'd like to see her in undies, alongside her sisters, for comparison. Are her hips wider than Marlee's because of the way the legs are set in? I always think that, ifmy adored Sasha toddlers have any faults at all ( they are perfect little angels, what ever people think of poor, innocent little Lucas at The Village), it is that their legs are badly formed at the top, making them look a little too wide. LAngelina has to keep explaining that it is not because she wears Pampers, it's just the way she was born.

    Thanks for showing her,
    Jenni xx

P.S. My Gregors would like to tell dear Auntie Kendal that their Zwerg cousin, Liam (a Tommy) is a great asset to the family. He is so tall that he can boost them up into trees and over walls, aiding them in their habit of getting into mischeif!

    1. Darn it, I just replied to this and blogger went haywire and lost my comment....blooming nuisance!!
And now I can't remember what it was I said.....senior moment!
Thank you for the comment though Jenni. Ah yes, I remember now, I was saying that the whole torso on this doll is thicker than the little Zwergnase girl, I think this girl could wear American Girl outfits except they might be waaaaay too short!
