Another type of Gotz arrives home with me from the UK!

And no Ronny, before you start to complain, we are not talking about Gotz Sashas or Gregors here, but two Gotz 18 inch vinyl 'play dolls'!  The first was a planned purchase, I saw that an internet friend was selling a brown eyed brunette Gotz Hannah without her outfit, for a very reasonable price.  The doll had not been played with and only used as a clothes model, so I decided to snap her up.  The seller sent her to my mum's house for me to collect and bring home, so saving on postage.  Here she is, I have dressed her in an outfit I made recently for my Kidz n Cats girl, and have called her Erin:

The second girl was a completely unexpected purchase and what a delightful 'buy' she is too!  She is a Gotz/Steiff Limited Edition Giselle from 2003.  I had been looking for one for a while but they are quite rare these days and so far this gorgeous girl had eluded me.  However, my friend in the UK had one and promised to give me first refusal should she ever decide to sell hers.  And sure enough, my lovely friend decided to surprise me by bringing her to the Chat n Snap so that I could see her!!!  And gave me the opportunity to adopt her!!!!!  I'm just delighted with her, she's so pretty!  She has the same body shape as the Hannah above her colouring is slightly darker I think.  She was produced by Gotz in collaboration with the Steiff company in Germany....you can't see it in these photos but she has a small gold plated stud in her earlobe like the soft toys produced by the Steiff company have .  She was pristine in her box with her full outfit, original hairstyle and tags still attached!!!  Here she is still in her box:

I decided to take the clips out of her hair but so far have left her ponytail in place.  I had to flatten her box to fit it in my suitcase though!!!  Once home, I removed her original outfit and stored it, and now she is dressed more casually so that she can play with the other 'children' here! ;)  I have called her Joie, which I think is the perfect name for her :)

I'm really looking forward to making these two lovely girls some outfits of their own in the near future!

  1. Phew! I was a bit worried there for a minute when I read the word Gotz!! Still, I can't say anything as I do have a couple of non Sasha Gotz baby dolls myself :)
Both girls are lovely and I really like the AG dungarees on Joie, but then, I do love denim dungarees and live and die in mine!!

    1. LOL I thought you would be Ronny, hence the first line of text! ;) I hoped that you'd not be scared off by the word G-O-T-Z and would come and see the new girlies!!! So you have a baby Gotz girl? I would love to see these other dolls of yours, I hope you'll start blogging again soon and share them with us!
The dungarees are perfect aren't they! It was because of you that I got them. I used ot have a pair when I was a teenager, I see that they're all over the place again nowadays.....reminds me a bit of The Waltons!!!! ;)

  2. I Love your Brunette Hannah, I saw her on Ebay and was very tempted as she was a good price but since she was naked I decided I would rather have her dressed! I have a red haired Hannah and a blonde but my blonde was second hand and not as nice as she could be!

Your other Gotz girl's eyes are so blue! she looks very sweet in her dungarees as does the Hannah but I must say of the two I do love the brunette and wish I'd taken the plunge !! lol

    1. Thanks Dee, she is lovely, isn't she! When I saw her on Ebay and who the seller was, I quickly asked her if she wanted to sell her off ebay, as she's a friend of mine on FB....so it was nice to get in first for a change, LOL!!! I'm very happy with them both though, and look forward to sewing them things to wear as most of the clothes I have are too small for them, but I've got lots of patterns.
I would love to see your Hannahs, do you have any photos you can share please?

  3. They are beauries, Sharon. I have always wondered about the body type of the Gotx/Steiff dolls as I've seen them advertised on US Ebay as 'same body as American Girl' but as 'like Hannah/Sarah' here. They are so hard to find and beyond my purse without a layaway when they do come up.
Mum has a Hannah with the same colouring as yours. She came nude from Trisha's shop and was only about £30 - a bargain. I have two Zauberwalt girls - same body and limbs but a different head sculpt. They are beautiful.
Think my only problem with the 'too many dolls' is that we have too many styles and I'm so slow at sewing for them! Think I'll dig out my Zauber girls to make a change (sh! don't tell those S*A*S*H*A people who don't like other dolls too much. Wish I had your sewing stamina and skill.

    1. Thanks so much Jenni, I'm glad you like them both! No, they're not the same as the AG dolls because these Gotz/Steiff girls have the full vinyl body, thankfully because I'm not into the cloth bodies to be honest. I was just so lucky that the lovely lady brought her with her to the Chat n Snap for me to see....and adopt!!!! That was a good bargain for your mums Hannah, I paid only a little more though, so I'm happy. I do like the outfits and have been regularly looking at the Hannah dolls at My Doll Best Friend, but the nude doll is just perfect for me!!! I am still looking at the Asian version too....I may put her on my Christmas list :)
Yes, I know what you mean on the 'too many styles'......there can never be too many dolls but too many styles is a challenge!!! But I'm sure we'll overcome, won't we ;)

  5. Feet firmly in the Gotz camp I am delighted to see more familiar Gotz doll faces on your blog. These dolls are like friends to me. Very enjoyable reading about their little histories and of course seeing their adaptation to life in Spain through your photography.

    1. Thanks very much Maxine! It has taken me a long time to decide but I'm very glad to have taken the 'Hannah' plunge now!!!! I still hanker after the Asian Hannah at the Ballet, so maybe she will join these two at some point, but for now I'm very happy and look forward to sewing for them once I've caught up with my commissions!! :)
