Decisions, decisions....

Although I love my Sashas and my Little Darlings and they've been getting a lot of my attention recently, my love of my BJDs, which I've had since 2006,  has never really gone away and was boosted recently by my birthday present from my husband, which hasn't arrived yet so I will leave that for when she does!

I've been looking at a BID (BID literally means Baby Iplehouse Doll)  by Iplehouse, a south Korean company that make beautifully realistic looking sculpts in various sizes, the BID is 26cm tall, a size I particularly like and am now tempted to add one to my collection.  I have actually had one in the past and for one reason or another sold her.

I absolutely love the 'choosing' stage when buying a new doll, the joy of looking at the company's website, the researching of 'in real life' photos of the different sculpts on Flickr and Den of Angels....such a lot of fun, but sooooo time consuming!!!  And the narrowing down of the different choices.......I tell you, if I'd did this much research on my school homework as a child, I'd have been a brain surgeon by now! LOL

So here's who I've been looking at.  All of my choices would be in 'special real skin' which is a lovely creamy tan, because it  photographs best for me here in southern Spain where the light is so clear and bright.

The first girl is called Bordy and I think she'd look wonderful in a Tibetan lambswool wig with maybe deep brown eyes, and bright colourful clothing (and we all know how much I like bright colours!)  just like a little Afro Caribbean child, don't you think?

(Photos by Iplehouse)

The other one I've been looking at is Bonnie, she's not shown on their site in my skin colour choice but these photos give an idea of her face shape.  I just find it very hard to visualise the other skin colour though.....I need to find more photos!  And so another search begins.......

Thank you for listening to my musings, I guess I should say to "watch this space!"

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

  1. I'd be spoilt for choice too so afraid that I can't be of any help here.... but look forward to seeing which face sculpt finally wins.

    1. You're very right Kendal, it is so hard to choose, there is so much choice. And when you take into account all the skin colour choices, the eyes, the wigs, well I could go on forever! I think I have made my choice though, I just have to click on that 'proceed to checkout' button!

  2. Easy -----have both!
Just joking, but they are both so lovely, it would be hard to choose. If you really pushed me for a decision, it would be Bordy.....or maybe.....No, it would be Bordy. Then I'd ask Santa to come early and bring me Bonnie, which he'd refuse to do and I'd have an excuse to sulk, forcing me to reefrain from cooking, ironing etc and that would at least allow me time to play with Bordie....
    I'm becoming really manipulaitve, heehee!

    1. Hola!!! I promise that my birthday gift from my husband will be shown just as soon as she arrives here....unfortunately she might get caught by the dreaded Spanish customs though as she is arriving from Denver Doll Emporium in the US!!!!

  5. They're both gorgeous (Iplehouse has such wonderful sculpts), so that's quite a tough choice! I would lean towards bordy, myself (I think it's that little nose), but there's certainly no wrong choice when it comes to these two! :)

    1. THey are lovely sculpts aren't they and so realistic! I think if I were into fashion dolls, then I would be more tempted by the Iplehouse bigger girls, they have fantastic body shapes and faces.
Fortunately for my paypal account, I prefer child dolls though .... phew!

    1. Thanks for your opinion Louise......and I agree on the eye colour, I'm not into what I think of as unnatural eye colours, I prefer the normal ones. I love the tan skin too, it looks so nice in real life too!

  8. Good luck with your choice. It's amazing how much of a difference skin tone and a wig makes. Those glass ? resin ? eyes are fabulous they are so alive, I can see how easy it would be to fall for these dolls!

    1. Thank you Rosie, and yes, you're right on the wig and eyes, it can completely change the look of a doll. I think this is why I have loved my bjds for so long now, they offer such a lot of variety.
These eyes are all glass ones, you can get some beautiful glass eyes but some are quite expensive.
