A few days ago I got up early to go to the beach with my son, Brendan, who wanted to do a bit of fishing (as usual) and I decided to take one of my Sasha's along for a few photos. It was already really warm at 6am and still quite dark. Sunrise wasn't until about 7.20am but of course there was still enough light coming from the east.
The sun starts to peep over the rocks...
We took Lucy with us for a long walk along the beach, she loves all the different smells on the sand and of course, digging!!
Jojo enjoyed herself too, although she kept her nice sandals on, which prevented her from paddling in the sea....
And as for the fishing.....successful? Yes!!! Brendan caught 5 fish, 4 of them were Atlantic Mackerel and a European Baracuda! He was happy.....and because he always puts them back into the sea, the fish were happy too!!
Beautiful photos of Jojo, I love how you have captured the light so perfectly with her.
ReplyDeleteLucy looks like she would enjoy the beach very much.
Well done on the fish catching - so you never eat them then? Is it because they are under size or just that you don't like having to kill and prepare them? I've never quite understood fishing! We used to fish in NZ, but only to eat unless of course they were under size, then they got thrown back.
Thanks Lorraine. Yes, Lucy loves the beach, all the different interesting smells and the fish, but she doesn't like the water! If it comes near her she's dragging me back up the beach!
DeleteNo, we've never eaten them because they aren't very big, the biggest was about 14 inches long and skinny, it was a European Baracuda apparently. My son isn't great on killing things, he carefully puts them back in the sea again! I know it would end up being me who'd have to kill and gut them, and I have to say that I'm not overly enamoured with that thought!
Love Jojo's outfit, great combination of colours the blues and green. I love the beach and Jojo looked so happy walking on the sand best she did not go in the sea incase Brendan caught her for a fish!!
ReplyDeleteNothing quite so lovely as watching the sun rise while walking along a beach with the sea crashing beside you..
Thanks Dee, glad you like her outfit. I love the blue/green combination too! Brendan probably would have thrown her in for bait!!
DeleteI totally agree on the sun rise, oh and the sunset....actually I love the beach at any time of day or any time of year....when I die I'm coming back next time as a beach bum!!!!!
Wow!! Fab set of photos Sharon!
ReplyDeleteOhh! I do like to be beside the seaside...:)
Thanks so much Ronny, glad you like them.
DeleteOh you and me both! I love the sea!!
Early morning ... The best time of day. and on a beach! How lucky to be able to go fishing and do doll photos in such a setting.
ReplyDeleteYes, very lucky Anna. I love the beach and the sea, I just find it so very relaxing. And then in winter when it's cold and the sea is grey and rough...I love it then too!
DeleteLovely! But Baracuda is VERY good to eat...
ReplyDeletePenny
x
Thanks Penny! I've never tried Baracuda but this one was a bit small, probably would have done in a small sandwich! LOL.
DeleteI did catch several Baracuda in Florida several years ago now, and the owner of the boat sold them to Greek sponge divers who apparently loved them. However, I also caught.....3 SHARKS!!!! Each one was approx 2 foot long and the boat owner killed and gutted them for us and we ate those! It was quite amazing actually as it was the first time I'd ever been fishing!!
Beautiful light in these pictures...and beautiful location too! Jojo looks like she enjoyed her outing... :D
ReplyDeleteTHanks so much Randomfish! Glad you enjoyed the photos. Yes, Jojo likes the beach but wouldn't take her sandals off. I laid her on the bed when we got back and all the sand went into the bed. Hubby was not overly impressed with me!!!!
DeleteOh I love the photos. I've allways loved water, both the sea and lakes. The light is amazing. Lucy is a cutie and Jojo's outfit is so cute. I especially love her bracelet.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Lene...me too, I've always lived less than an hour from the sea and wouldn't have it any other way. Could it be that Geminis, as you and I both are, need to be near water? Are we air signs? I can't remember now!!!
DeleteGlad you like the outfit too Lene, and the bracelet. I am not very good at making jewellery but she was happy with this!!
A truly most enjoyable and interesting post. I love very early mornings especially at the seasides.
ReplyDeleteA huge part of my younger life was spent by the sea, seven years at boarding school at Llandudno, first two+ years of marriage in Bexhill, long school holidays at Portmadoc in North Wales. (Personally though I prefer the UK's beach sand rather than Spain's grey gritty stuff! No wonder Jojo didn't want to take off her sandals and feel that courseness on the soles of her feet.)
Love her outfit with that mixture of florals and strips and the addition of the lime green shoes. Very tasteful and trendy.
Was a bit disapponted to hear that the caught fish were returned as was thinking that you would have been having them for your breakfast later. I too love a shark steak. Often when holidaying in Cornwall the hotel would buy in freshly caught sharks for the evening meals.
Thanks so much Kendal, glad you enjoyed it! I love being by the sea, but yes, you're right, our sand is very dark and gritty, it really stains our feet!!! Especially mine, because I don't seem to be able to sit on the sand without digging my toes in and make 'channels' in front of me, so then I have to really scruff the staining off myself!
ReplyDeleteHowever, not all sand here in Spain is like our local beach! I don't know if you've ever been to the Costa de la Luz, which is in Cadiz province, the sand there is beautiful, very white and fine, and the beach goes on for miles to the sea, which is then very shallow and warm. Here, where we are, there is a really big 'slope' and you go from ankle deep to waist deep in a couple of steps. I'm glad my son is grown up because I'd have hated it getting so deep so quickly when he was little and always in the water! I swear he is part fish!!!
Yes, Brendan put them all back! I think eventually he'll start to keep what he catches and expect me to help gut them...yuck! But there really is nothing nicer than freshly caught fish, is there! Oooh yes, shark is really nice, isn't it! (well on a plate anyway, not sure I'd like to meet one in the sea!)
Thanks also on Jojo's outfit, I'm glad you like it!!!
