Gabrielle takes a bow....

I've had a busy week, what with cleaning the house and trying to also catch up on all the things I need to do.  I'm still rerooting my baldy Bailey, it is hard work but I'm enjoying seeing it all come together.  I hope I'll finish this coming week and will share photos of her on here!!

In the meantime, Gabrielle wanted to show her autumn outfit.  I made the blouse whilst we were still at the coast and then finished the outfit with the pinafore that I quickly made up last weekend.  I got the lovely 'retro' looking soft fine corderoy from Norway, I really like the pattern because it reminds me a bit of fabric from the 70s.  I added the beret, which I made from wool felt.  I would have liked to have made it in wool fabric but I didn't have any!!!  I think I'll reduce the depth of the band as I think it's too wide....reminds me a bit of one of those old fashions 'stove-pipe' hats!!!

  1. Sharon, ger eyes seem to just swallow me up. Gorgeous! Love her bobbed hair as well. The outfit? Well, it is just too, too perfect.

    1. Thanks so much Julie, aren't her eyes lovely! Shelly did such a great job on them! I'm glad you like her hair because I'm not so sure....it's one of those cases where I ask myself "did I do the right thing in cutting it?" It's not like I can even say "never mind, it'll grow back!" LOL

  2. Love her outfit Sharon, very trendy 70's looking fabric. I agree that the beret rim needs to be turned back on its self to make it narrower. It is so hard to get hold of wool fabric !
Love her hair and of course her beautiful eyes :)

    1. Thanks so much Dee, glad you like it. Yes I thought that fabric was very 1970s inspired too! I really like it because it's lovely and soft, so quite easy to sew with. I love corderoy but it can be a bit thick for dolls, so this is just right!
I tried turning under the edge of the beret but being wool felt it's a bit thick, so next time I make one, I'll just make the band narrower.
Yes, we're lucky to have Shelly do eyes for us, she really does a lovely job!

    1. Thanks so much Lorraine, glad you like it. The fabric is really nice, isn't it! I got another piece in pink and browns, which is lovely too, but have already used quite a lot of it up....I might have just enough to make something small, if I could just remember what I've done with it!

  5. Another very eye catching outfit! You've certainly got the eye and flare for the Sasha clothing!
(Yes, I agree that I think that the beret band would look better a little narrower!)

  6. What a great interpretation of the pinafore pattern. And her enhanced eye painting is lovely too.

  7. I love that fabric on the pinafore! I rather like her hat the way it is, too, it's just a little bit different, and adds character to the outfit. :D

    1. Thanks so much Randomfish! I am keeping it like this because it wouldn't fold under very well, being wool felt it's a bit too thick!
