Vidal Sassoon? More like Edward Scissor Hands!!!

I have spent the majority of today fiddling with the hair on Bailey, the little once brunette girl, who I've just rerooted.  I looked on You Tube for videos that might help show me how to cut layers into her hair, because the only style I can cut is a 'bob'....and really, what is the point of rooting all that long hair if I'm then going to cut it into a short style straight away?  Well I found loads of videos on how to cut layers but to be honest, I really am too cack handed to do it.....so in the end, I cut about 4 inches off the length of the hair, then I decided to cut in a short wispy fringe.  However, because she has the slightest of side partings, the 'wispy' didn't work, so she now has a somewhat regular, if skewiff, fringe!!!  However, in the photos below her hair is damp because I've been trying to get it to lay flat....

....and the darn hair wouldn't, so now she us sporting a 'nifty' beret in the hope that the band, which is relatively tight, might help her fringe to lay flat as it dries.  Tomorrow I'll trim it level again, if it's sitting flat that is!!

  1. Well done, I would have been terrified of getting it wrong! Just trim teeny tiny bits at a time if you trim any more... Her dress is gorgeous!

    1. Thanks Lorraine! I've done the fringe now and although it's not all perfect like some fringes, it's not too bad at all. I need to post a photo of her finally done! Her dress, socks and shoes are by Ruthsdolls and beret by me!

  2. Oooo, it's lovely. The length just right. The bangs look perfect when she is wearing the beret. Hopefully, they will dry that way. Her outfit is stellar as well.

    1. Thank you Julie! I know the hair is a bit thick but I'm quite happy now that she's finished....I almost gave up when I was just over halfway done, I'm glad now that I didn't! Thanks on her outfit, she actually came wearing this....which was very fortunate!

  3. Looks good!

I can cut hair (my mother and grandfather were hairdressers) but I can't make doll dresses...

    1. Just a thought...can't you take her to the hairdressers? I took one of mine to Trevor Sorbie in Brighton once...they were very good and even the tourists loved it and took photos :)

    2. Thanks so much Ronny! And yes, that outfit is really nice, isn't it! She came in that from Shelly's, so it really is 'hers'!!
I was thinking of taking her to my own hairdresser, who's salon is just opposite my house, she cut my Millies hair on the very ends to remove the dryness.....I may eventually go to her but for now I think I'll leave well alone!!!

  5. well done Sharon, I bet your feeling very chuffed with yourself ! as for her fringe, near boiling water will sort it out but it depends how flat you want it as that will make it flat as a pancake .....xxxx

    1. Thank you Sarah and thank you also for all your help! I've managed to almost flatten the fringe with the beret....it's not perfect but will do for now!!! I was worried about the boiling water ruining her eyes, but to be honest, I'm not sure I want it really really flattened anyway. I shall see how it goes I think!

  6. Congratulations on your first re-root! Is their no end to your Sasha talents? Bet you're keeping lifting the beret off to check the fringe's progress?
Loving the colouring of the Ruthsdoll's outfit and your beret looks perfect with it and just the colouring needed to finish the outfit off.

  7. Sharon, she is gorgeous! I'm sure with a snip here and there you will get it perfect! Love the colour of her clothes and beret! they look so nice on her! Is it a Ruth dolls outfit or did you make it? She's looking very on the village trend, just needs her school bag! :)
I love her blonde hair and browns combo too!

    1. Thanks so much Dee, glad you like her new look! Yes it's a Ruthdolls outfit which she came home in from Shellys. I do have some bags here but nothing so cute as your girls satchel.....maybe I should make one....I have some leather but maybe not enough of just one colour....unless I cut a whole in the sofa, I wonder if my hubby will notice!

    1. Thanks so much Randomfish, I'm not so sure I'm brave as foolhardy!! I was careful to take just a bit at a time and I made myself stop when I was pleased with it, having learned my lesson in the past about taking 'just one more snip'!!!!
