Marlee and Skye....other vinyl dolls

I've been sewing for two of my other vinyl dolls because neither of them had anything but their 'default' outfits to wear.  I had to make new patterns as both of them are bigger than the Sashas and Natterers, and of course, as luck would have it, both are different to each other!  So two new patterns had to be made before I could even start sewing.  Luckily though, I think both bodices worked out quite well on first attempt, so here are a few photos.

The first girl is Marlee, she is a Zwergnase Junior Marlene and is approx 19 inches tall.  She is all vinyl and made in Germany.  She has handpainted eyes and very unusual, but endearing (to me!) features.  Her hair is lovely, very thick and wavy and a gorgeous red colour.  The first two photos are of her in her default outfit which is far too warm, being velvet, for the hot weather here.

Here she is in her new summer dress, made from beige linen and striped socks.  She is still wearing her heavy black boots....they really are her 'trademark'!!

Next to get a new outfit is Skye.  Skye is a Classic Kidz Luisa by Gotz and is all vinyl with rooted silky blond hair and inset acrylic eyes.  She is 48cm tall and is the biggest of all my vinyl dolls.  She also has extra joints in her legs and elbows, allowing her to do a number of extra poses.  I made her new dress from knit fabric and it fits her perfectly.  I will have to now try making it with woven cotton and hope that the fit will still be good, as knit can be very 'forgiving'!!!  Skye only got a dress, she didn't need socks as she prefers to go barefoot!

  1. LOL I was just looking at a classic kid Luisa the other day, but she was a brunette!! But I made myself come away before I slide down yet another slope but she's in my , when a Sasha's not calling and I need a fix , notes!!!!
I have looked the Zwargnase dolls also , there's a seller who does both Kidz and Cats and a lot of the other dolls, in Framlingham and My friend and I looked a one their but I think their faces are quite unique so you need to find the one that hits you, there was one in this year's set that I loved but again I managed to keep from sending an email!!! :)
Love their new dresses , it's nice to see these dolls in summer clothes ;)
    Hugs Dee xxx

    2. Oh yes Dee, little Vroni and Clara are very cute looking! I like these dolls, I'm not overkeen on their leg joints but then I've been spoilt by BJD jointing, but I'll get used to it eventually I'm sure!!! I like vinyl more and more and enjoy it as I do n't feel that I have to worry so much about it, plus even though they're bigger dolls, they aren't half as heavy as a BJD of the same size, so I can have more fun with them.
I love the Zwergnases, they just have such funny and interesting faces, I like their body shape too.....I have spoken with Trish at the very shop you mention, she is very helpful and very nice. I 'd love to go and visit her shop in Suffolk one day!
      Big hugs Sharon xx

  2. Two lovely dolls Sharon. I like Marlee, what a lovely looking Zwergnase...I have mixed feelings about these dolls and very nearly had one. Your Gotz Kidz doll looks interesting with her joints - is she one of the new ones (or fairly recent anyway) that I have seen advertised? Gorgeous dresses for them, very light and summery.

    1. Thanks Lorraine, yes, the Gotz girl is one of the newbies with joints...she is a 2014 doll. I think of the two I actually prefer the Zwergnase as I feel she has more character but the Gotz girlie has grown on me too!

  3. I love the Zwerg Juniors because of the variety of sculpts and because, if you pose their heads at different angles, their expressions seem to change. They are great to sew for too as they have realistic body proportions.
I love the outfits you've made for these little ladies, specially love your stripey socks with Marlee's boots. It is quite hard to find other shoes that suit her and the cute socks soften the look of boots with a summer dress.
So far, I've avoided looking too closely at the Gotz Happy Kids... don't tempt me!!

    1. Thanks Jenni, yes me too on the Zwergnase Juniors, I think that each and every one of them has something very interesting about them and very appealing, zany is the word that springs to mind when I see them! Great quality too! I wouldn't mind a boy Junior too....once the money tree comes into bloom again ;)
And yes, those boots!!!! She is currently wearing a rara skirt outfit that I made for her, and still wearing the boots....in this heat she's going to have incredibly stinky feet!!! ;)

  5. Luckily, in spite of your constant temptations (and the Doll magazine that I used to take!) .....I still only have eyes for Sasha.... but it is getting harder and harder for me not to take the next step and look into these different dolls more fully.
