Polka Dotty!

On Saturday I 'nipped' home from the coast to collect some fabric for my incredibly patient latest commission....and whilst I was there, I decided to have a root through my dolls clothes boxes and bring some things back here to try on my new bigger girls, Marlee and Tanya.

One of the outfits I brought back with me is a pair of overall/dungarees that I made some time ago for a Super Dollfie girl from Peaks Wood.  Someone had previously commissioned me to make some overalls for their Volks SD and I'd made my own pattern for them, which I was so pleased with, but I'd not really made any other pairs since.  So when my friend Magdalena gave me some fabric left over from a flamenco dress, I thought I'd make the overalls again.  Instead of denim though, they'd be brown with pink polkadots and gingham linings!  But since I'd sold the doll, the overalls were just left unused.....until now that is!  Marlee has decided that they're perfect for her!!!

They are waaaaay too long, that adopted out girl had seriously long legs, but even rolled up several times at the ankles, I think you'll agree that Marlee shows real attitude wearing them! ;)

  1. That child is so full of attitude !! and she likes to show it! :) She looks great in the photo's and the dungarees are perfect on her! But I bet she did not show you she liked them just shrugged her shoulders like she was doing you a favour!!

    1. She really is Dee! And you're so right on how she acted in the dungarees...in fact when I said about taking them up for her, she just said "Don't bother!" and strutted off......too much attitude!

  2. Very cute outfit!

And I love that third photo - There's something about her expression that just works perfectly with that hands-in-pockets/glancing-over-shoulder pose.

    1. I find it very funny that people who have to leave negative comments haven't got the guts to use their own name! If you don't like the doll, fair enough, but if you're too 'scared' to name yourself then quite honestly I really don't give a damn about your opinion.... :)

  4. Odd how people have negative opinions so strong that they feel must put them on a blog but are not strong enough themselves to say them out loud or sign their name, isn't it? Puts me in mind of those snippy old people who used to sign off derogatory comments to newspapers as 'Disgusted of Tunbridge Wellls!' or wherever.
We are all different though, and I admit to finding perpetually grinning dolls slightly scary. But then, I have a long history as a teacher and psychologist and know enough to be wary of children who hold a huge smile or grin without changing expression...
I love these dungarees on Marlee. My Tommy is planning to swim to Spain as he feels the need to get to know somebody who can sew things like 'farm overalls.' I think he's spending too much time around my American DH and that tractor..... He also thinks Marlee would be a fun friend - he's sure she'd enjoy building dens and climbing trees with him.

    1. That's exactly what I think Jenni. I have absolutely no probs with someone not liking my dolls, or what I sew, that is their perogative, and it would be a very boring world if we all liked the same things! I have no problem with my friends telling me how they feel about something, but when someone just hasn't got the guts to comment with their name, then quite honestly, I can't be bothered with them. My hubby laughed and said "You're so aggressive!" but he knows that if I felt strongly about something then I would say it, AND use my own name! LOL
I'm glad you like the dungarees, tell Tommy he can come and play here any time he likes....and I'll send him home with his own dungarees too! Have you tried the American Girl overalls on him? I brought my pair down here with me and have been meaning to try them on Marlee....I will do so and let you know how they look....obviously they'll be too short but might look very cute with their big boots.
I didn't realise that Bruce was American!
And oh yes, Marlee would be a tree climber....she's a bit too full of herself is that one! ;)

  5. Love this outfit on her! The gingham is so cute with the polkadots. :D

I love how she has a tinge of "You are not the boss of me!" to her expression from certain angles. <3

    1. Thanks so much Rosie, I'm glad you like them. They're a lot of work with 6 working pockets and all that, but I have to say I do like the end result. I think she'll keep them....it would be harder to try getting them back from her now! ;)
      Big hugs SHaron xx
