Some random doll photos taken yesterday.....

I thought I'd share some doll photos that I took yesterday.  It was a lovely sunny afternoon and the light was just right upstairs on the terrace for some dolly photos.

First we have little Angelina, our visiting Toddler from Wales.  Yes, I know I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that she was going home, but she got another modelling assignment so her mummy kindly agreed for her to stay a little longer....and no, it's not true that I'm hoping she'll forget where she lives and want to stay here....although that is a tempting thought LOL ;)

Here she can be seen modelling a bright green fine corderoy hooded coat, fully lined in green and white striped shirting fabric.  The coat is going to live with another little Toddler in the US.

I then took photos of some of my BJDs.  These first two photos are of my Lati Yellow gang, all 16cm tall, fully jointed resin girls from South Korea.  I realised yesterday that one of these, the little blond, second from the left, has been here almost 8 years now!  She was my first Lati Yellow and I bought her back in the days when there was no quibble over that company's quality or customer service....and no waiting 9 months in those days!

Next is my one remaining Volks Yosd girl, she is Megu, one of the 'four sisters' and has a custom faceup by Nomyens.  I call her Faun.  It used to be said that Volks owners were 'elitist' and although I don't agree with that statement, I have to say that I love Volks dolls, they just feel so nice in your hands, and they pose very naturally.  I like that Fairyland dolls have great posing but in a lot of ways it feels quite 'mechanical' whereas Volks dolls feel as if they are posing themselves...if that makes sense!!  Having had many Volks dolls over the last 9 years that I've been in the BJD hobby, I still feel they are one of the best BJDs on the market!

And finally here is Fiona, she is a Fairyland Little Fee Ante who's been here with me since April 2009 having come to live with me from California. She has a default faceup and she poses really well as you'd expect.

I hope you've enjoyed seeing some of my doll photos!

  1. Hi Angelina! Behaving well, for Auntie Sharon???? I hope the little toddler in America doesn't mind you wearing her new coat before she doe. It's a wonderful colour.

I love the little dark haired Lati, Sharon, very Spanish looking. Do they really take 9 months to turn up at your house? It seems a very long wait for somebody so tiny.
That being said, I wouldn't mind if a certain doll coming here in the next day or two took so long or, better still, a great deal longer..........

    1. Hi Mama (that's Angelina speaking by the way!)...yes, I'm being a very good girl and I'm learning Spanglish too :) What? Can't I keep this coat too? That's way not faiiiiiirrrrr!
Oh dear Jenni, now you've started something!!!! Seriously though, thank you so much for letting her stay a bit longer to help with this latest modelling assignment, I would be lost without her help!! :) She is earning her keep! ;)
The little dark one is called Cookie by Lati, I call her Oreo! I haven't bought new from them in ages, but I read the thread on Den of Angels yesterday and someone did mention 9 months waiting....I don't know if that is for the basics but for the Limited Edition girls like this one, then maybe yes, as long as that. The last time I bought a new girl from them I waited exactly 5 months....I knew I'd have a long wait so I just tried to forget about it. I suppose it's like the Little Darlings!!!! All of these dolls are individually handpainted so I expect that is where the time is taken up, plus sometimes they can't spray them with sealant because of the weather!!!
I'm sure you're really sooooo excited about that incoming doll really, and you're stalking the postie each and every day...I bet when she arrives you'll be soooooo happy that you'll give Mr Postman a GREAT BIG KISS too hahaha.....then I'll know that you're as crazy as I am!!!
      Big hugs xxx

I do love seeing all your Bjd girls Sharon and I love the idea of having one but know that I just don't have the time to deal with any more dolls! I can barely keep up with the one's I have!! But you do so tempted me :)
I am off to quizz jenni about this new doll that's coming to her door..... ;)

    1. Oh, you know, Dee, you were the first to hear of the tragic imposition of an ugly doll at Bryn Derw......She may have to go into exile after a decent length of time. There are some things/dolls given to us that it is hard to be grateful for.

Her official name is Star Hey (don't ask, the Makie folk are a bit weird like that) but I'm renaming her No Way! Or maybe EeeBay, or Bad Day, or No Play. Working on it.....

I always wanted to make a doll, but worried that I'd make one so ugly that nobody could love it. Now, I fear I've done it, with the 'help' of my lovely and well-meaning D-i-L. Now,forget about her.....or I'll be forced to send you a photo of her............

    2. Thanks very much Dee, and I so agree, Angelina is a real sweetie! I love her colouring so much, she and Kendal's Bea really do appeal to me. I like the ginger boys too. Actually I really wouldn't mind any of them knocking on my door to be honest!
You have Elfine of course, so you're not without a BJD, but I know what you mean.....I have to say that it is far easier if you're able to focus on just one particular type of doll....not like me, who is all over the place with dolls :)

    3. Jenni, I don't really know what to think about your daughter in law's gift to you.....does she like you? ;) LOL
I love your choice of possible names for her too! Maybe when Lucas is naughty Dee, you could threaten him that "if you're a bad boy Lucas, Auntie Jenni is going to send the MAKIE!" Now that would scare him I'm sure, poor boy won't sleep alone for weeks!!!!

  3. Beautiful photos of all the dolls! I can't get over that little green coat..so cute! Also I love your BJD's. I currently don't own any either, but I have to say, yours are REALLY cute. I especially like the one all the way to the left and her cute pigtails. :)
Faun is stunning! I can't get over the detail in her face and clothing. Fiona?? Oh my, she can't get any cuter either. I love seeing parts of your collection and learning about all of the different dolls that are out there. I may just have to get one! :)

    1. Don't you love the way Fiona's little socks are sliding down? She is a real cutey and so very poseable.
      How tall is she, Sharon?

    2. Thanks so much Farrah Lily, but be careful it is such a slippery slope! I have been collecting bjds since my first arrived back in August or September 2006 and have had a lot come and go....at one time I had more than 40 of the little perishers, but I've got my collection down in number now, thankfully, although I'm still into double figures. I just always go back to them, it's the posing, they can do such fun things with their joints. Having said that, I do love my vinyl normally jointed dolls too.....I'm just a sucker for dolls ;)

  7. That coat looks gorgeous on Angelina! I love that bright shade of green, it's perfect.

And your Lati Yellow line-up is adorable; They all have such cute faces. And your Megu is gorgeous as well (I very much agree that Volks dolls feel different in the hands compared to other BJDs) - and her nautical outfit is perfect!

    1. Thanks so much jSarie, glad you like the coat, this girl looks so lovely in bright colours!
It's very funny about the Volks dolls, I've tried to explain it to people before and it's only when they've handled one themselves that they know what I mean! I'm glad you know exactly what I'm talking about :)

  8. Sharon - you are a very bad influence - after looking at this post I've now bought a Lati Yellow girl - she arrives in a few days. I'm not at all sure about her eyes so may want to ask your advice about replacing them - hope that's ok!? Also - some shoe suppliers, as I definitely can't make them!
