My latest challenge .... Lyric!

Yesterday I made a new dress for Lyric, my 60s 'once blond' Slate eyes Gotz Sasha.  As you'll probably have gathered by now, I love colour....lots of colour and probably the brighter the better.  But I decided to go with white because I always like how nice white dresses look on our tanned skinned Sashas.  I'd had this broiderie anglais fabric for ages and thought I'd use that.  It is quite thick and very 'holey' so although I've used this particular pattern before, this fabric was my 'weekend challenge'.  However, I think the bigger challenge, despite much pressing with the iron,  was getting the darn collar to lie flat!!

Once I'd undressed Lyric though, I realised that she needs a bit of work.  The poor girl has chest caving and I need to sort that out soon.  But I notice that she has a wooden head/neck attachment so I'm not sure whether to try getting her head off to work on her or to remove her legs, which might be easier....but that is for another day, as I got side tracked trying wigs on her! Yes, she is a little baldy, so has to wear a wig.

But that is not all, she also has very very faded whites to her eyes, in fact there really isn't any white to speak of, but the irises themselves are quite good....so I thought I'd add a tiny bit of white watercolour pencil to bring the whites back.  Not a good move.  In the photos of her in the red wig she looks like one of the children from The Village of the Damned!!!!

So I decided to try another wig on her, this time it's another lovely soft Monique Gold wig, which like a lot of my wigs in this size, I've had almost forever!  I like the style on her and think it tones down the whites of her eyes a bit, but not sure on the blue highlights......

Finally I went back inside and toned down the whites of her eyes again, then changed her wig for a Monique Gold Jojo which I put into pigtails.  I quite like the style on her but not sure on the colour.  Now if I could have the brown of the above wig with the style of the below one, that would be perfect!!!  I might have to add a wig for her to my next wig order! :)

Ignoring the eyes, which is your favourite wig for Lyric?  I'm leaning towards the second one but don't be influenced by me, please tell me what you think!!

Hope everyone has a safe and good week ahead :)

  2. She looks great in all the wigs, but my vote goes for the last one, which surprised me as blond is not my favourite on the very dark skinned kids, despite being the commonest colouring at production. But, with those cute, short pigtails she looks like a younger child who has spent long summer on the beach with her hair becoming sun-streaked and her skin deeply tanned.

The second wig has the same effect but she looks a little older and I have a soft spot for the younger looking kids.

Love that white dress, a real change from your usual brights, as you say, but there's nothing wrong with trying something a little different from time to time.

    1. Thank you Jenni....I think that one gets quite a few votes so for the time being she is wearing that one. I will add some ribbons at some point...I'm feeling lazy now so it won't be tonight!
Thank you also on the dress, I thought it made a nice change.....I do like them in white, especially with their tan vinyl.

  3. Love the white dress Sharon, you are doing very well on your challenge! I like her in the Middle wig, I think it gives her a whole different look and a much softer face, but that's just my opinion.
I would b totally unable to decide if she was mine!! lol

    1. Thanks very much Dee, I know that it's early days yets so I won't do something every weekend I'm sure!
And sometimes I will do commission work at weekends, it's just that because I have a lot of commissions at the moment, it just makes sense to have a rest from it at the weekends and do my own thing!
Thanks for your opinion on the wig, I like that one too, but it does make her look a bit more grown up!

  4. They all look good on her, but I really love the second one, and the way the blue works with the colour of her eyes.

Of course to be fair, I think the second wig also benefits from the blue shoes and the blue accents in the tiles behind her, so it's not quite a fair fight for the other wigs.

    1. Thank you jSarie! I do like the blue highlights wig, I've always liked it but it used to be worn by an Elfdoll SD and it was more suited to her age group I think.

  5. I'm going for the last and third wig, the Monique Jojo as I love those short straight pigtails that you have styled it in.....so the little girlie look.

What a good little soul Lyric has been this afternoon to cope with all these wig and eye changes but then I guess that one would do as much for the thought of wearing this new and very pretty white dress made from the heavier Broiderie Anglais material.

PS. My second choice of wig would be the first red bob shown and my third the middle ,longer one... but without the blue streaks.

    1. Thank you Kendal! I think Lyric has been really patient with me changing her all yesterday, poor thing! Even this morning she didn't get away with having a restful day as I redid the whites on her eyes again, they look much better now, not soooo Village of the Damned now!

  6. Love the second wig with the longer length but I think it would look better without the pale blue.... now a royal blue or purple would look fabulous! Love the outfit too.

    1. I'm with you on the wig being better without the pale blue.....I don't really like my dolls wearing non natural colours to be honest.
Thanks for commenting Michelle :) and for liking the outfit!

  8. It's amazing how each wig makes her look so different. I think I like the 2nd one the best, but the 3rd one is really cute as well. :)

    1. Thank you Ginger.....that blue highlighted one is coming in a close second to the pigtails one now! Maybe she needs to wear both, swapping about with her change of mood ;)

  11. The wigs give such different looks and ages to Lyric - pretty name !!! I think she would look good in a soft blonde wig matching the style of the first red one - perhaps slightly longer so that she can have little pigtails sometimes as in the last photo. Don't work too hard Sharon - the 'Sasha -philes' out there will keep you busy for ever !!! .....kindest regards Wendy

  12. I read Lyric and thought: now she's writing poetry!
    But no - not Sharon.
She's doing kind of poetry with her sewing machine :)

    Lovely dresses, lovely lyric!
