Collections....inspired by Dee's post!

After seeing Dee's blog post yesterday on collecting, Sasha Village, I thought I'd share some photos of my Lladro by Nao.  I took these photos some time ago with a view to doing a blog post, but as often happens, life got in the way and I never did get to share them.  Until today!

I've been collecting Lladro since March 1986 but haven't added to my collection for a while now as I have about 19 pieces and would struggle to find more spaces to display them!  I've had some breakages though.  My big ballerina got damaged when Brendan was small, he climbed up to the window to see a fire engine and knocked her straight off the window sill!!  She suffered quite a bit but I've still kept her!!!  Also, we used to have a cleaner who suffered badly with her nerves and as a result had very shaky hands.....she managed to knock a few over in her time!  That'll teach me not to do my own cleaning!!!  Please forgive the dust in the crevices of some of these.....I no longer have a cleaner! :) LOL

There is one piece missing from these photos, it had been broken and the glue was drying!

    1. Thanks Lorraine. Sometimes I'm tempted to add more but so far have resisted!

  2. A lreally ovely collection.

I have a smaller collection of three girls and two swans/geese that were brought back as gifts over several years by a boyfriend from France but they aren't Nao or Lladro, being more slender and practically all white and with a matt finish.
I've always loved these kind of ornaments with their limited colour use and simplicity.

    2. No need to apologise for any spelling mistakes Kendal....we all make them, and it's just lovely that people comment that is more important!
Thanks for your nice comment and yes, I know the ones you mean! Actually Lladro do make matt ones I believe, I've seen them in the windows of jewellers on the coast, but they are very expensive!!
Yes, I agree on the limited colour use, it is very effective!

  3. Your figurines look well all displayed together.
Are they still being made? I have seen adverts for them in shop windows in the Canaries but didn't notice any for sale.
I have always had a weakness for the geese but your little boy with the train is so sweet.

    1. Thanks so much Rosie, I'm glad you like them!
Yes, they do still seem to be being made, or at least I've seen them for sale at places on the coast....and Gibraltar, especially for tourists I guess? I got several of these in the Canaries when I first started collecting them.

  5. It is true what Dee said - we tend to be collectors from childhood on - I had stamps, tiny glass bottles & of course dolls when I was young. Recently, silver spoons, Wehnt & Kuhn wooden angels & still dolls, just a different group:) So lovely to see these figurines of yours - I especially love the little boys with their animals:)

  6. Lovely collection Sharon, I'll have to put a photo on of Gill's and mine, strange how you forget exactly what collections you have! , I totally forgot my lladro until you mentioned yours! I have not added anything to it for years and a few pieces were broken by my girl's when they were very young! seem to remember a football in the leaving room and the mantlepiece!!!!
I always loved these figures and would have loved more :)

    1. LOL, yes...it may be selective forgetfulness you know! Because I forgot to mention that I have a collection of 5 dogs, don't I...although Ronny beats me on that with her big bunch!
I remember Brendan knocking my big ballerina off the window sill, I just had to lock myself in the bathroom because if not I might have murdered him! LOL
