November Already?

Oh my goodness, how did we reach  November already?  I was only half way through October, blinked and it was gone!  Well October was a busy month for us as at the beginning of the month my son Brendan came to visit for a week!  It was a lovely week, we had a lot of fun but the time just rushed past and soon he had gone back again to the UK 😢  But whilst he was here we went to the gym together, went out for meals and just generally had a great time!

Of course there was also a small amount of dolly time and I've been doing some sewing for my newest girls, the Little Cosmos Dolls, Bastian and Robin, as well as tiny Annic by Irrealdolls.

I made Sienna (Bastian) a pair of jeans....here she's wearing them with a Superman tee shirt that I made some years ago for another doll:

I wanted to get Sienna a new faux fur wig, but having looked around on Etsy and Ebay, I decided that I'd make one myself.  The problem is finding just the right sort of faux fur, I really don't like the faux fur that has a high nylon content.  Well as luck would have it, I just happened to be shopping in Lidl and there they were selling brown furry cushions, in just the sort of fabric I was looking for!  So I grabbed one, brought it home and unpicked it.  I then made a pattern and soon Sienna had her wig.  The fur is longer than her existing faux fur wig so I was able to pull pieces at the back into two little pigtails!!!

In the meantime, Annic by Irrealdolls, who is now called Anais, got a nice new outfit.  It was one I bought at the Dolly Day event in Barcelona back in June.  It was intended for my Hana Angel but it was too long on her, so Anais is the lucky recipient....I added the hat and the bag which I made many years ago although I think it would have been better in black...

I thought she looked very old fashioned and even more so in sepia....

Apart from that, little Pip, (Irrealdoll Enyo in Toffee) got changed into something warmer for the autumn....he's the first to get changed, I hope you're impressed 😁 .... let's hope I can get the rest changed before the winter turns into spring again!!!  His lovely striped jumper and hat are by my late and dear friend Maisiedoats, who passed away far too soon, his jeans are by yours truly...well me!!!

Apart from that, nothing much else to tell you except to say that I have another new girl on her way home as I type!  She is coming from the UK and hopefully she will have arrived in time for my next blog post.

I hope you all have a great weekend and thanks for visiting.

Big hugs Sharon xx

  1. I agree , where did October go? These months just seem to fly by ! maybe we don't notice the time because we are too busy playing with the dolls? ;)

I've noticed since I started with the dolls that shopping is a whole new ball game! No longer do I shop for just the household , I now look at everything with a 'doll' frame of mind, so you and the faux fur cushion is a prime example of a doll person on the hunt!
It's amazing just what can be found for use for the dolls we have.
Her new wig is lovely with the tiny pigtails.
Anais looks lovely and just like a schoolchild of the past and Pip and his monkey and just so sweet!

I look forward to seeing who gets dressed for winter next ! and another new doll.... lovely , nothing like a new doll arriving .
    :) xx

    1. Dee I do exactly the same, whenever I'm out shopping, no matter for what, I am looking at what something can be used for in the dolly hobby. Last week I picked up two nice pairs of leggings, one from Primark and the other from Dunnes Stores, because the fabric was perfect for dolly leggings. Then of course the cushion, and I've often seen little odds and ends that will 'come in handy' ..... one day!!!
I think this is what makes our doll hobby so incredibly interesting to us, we can use everyday things too :)
I'm glad you like the wig, it's not quite what I had in mind as it's a bit too full, but will do for now.
Oh indeed, nothing quite like another new doll arriving LOL ;)

  2. Oh Sharon, why oh why do you keep posting dollies that I adore??? Sienna looks wonderful in the wig you made, it suits her to a "T" and I love the name you chose for Annic, Anais is a name I almost gave my daughter after seeing the perfume Anais Anais By Cacharel many moons ago. She reminds me of an old fashioned school girl.

This was a nice newsy post, but you almost made me cry when you mentioned May, I miss her and her wonderful knitting, she made me so many tiny knits.

I shall keep an eye out for your new arrival, I bet it's another doll to try and tempt me. :)
    Big hugs,
    X

    1. I'm sorry Sandi, I hope I'm not tempting you too much ;)
Thank you on the wig, hopefully it will flatten down a bit as it's a bit too full at the moment.
Yes I remember that perfume too, I had several bottles of it when I was younger!
I'm sorry that I nearly made you cry from mentioning May, I'm glad you remember her fondly too though, she was such a lovely lady....we used to speak every single day without fail and I missed her so much when she died, far too soon too. I loved her knitting and wouldn't part with the things I have here for anything! She was such a great knitter as her work was so in scale, such tiny little stitches.
I hope the new girl will be here in a few days, so watch this space!!!

  3. I like Annic a lot. What a cute face! What do you make the jeans out of? Real denim is too thick isn't it?

    1. Thank you Tam, I'm glad to hear that you like her.
I generally make the jeans out of the thinnest denim I can find, or very well washed denim so that it's easier to sew and more in scale. Yes, regular denim can be too thick and it's not bendy enough on these small dolls. My friends and family give me old jeans sometimes and they're perfect as they've been washed and washed, so the denim is lovely and soft.

  4. Sharon, your girls are adorable. Pip is such a cutie. You have been busy making all kinds of things.
I will be off to a doll show (sale) this weekend. I am hoping I can find some dolls at a good price that can be re-dressed for our doll club luncheon in the Summer. I can't spend too much on the dolls because I don't sew and I have to purchase outfits.
We have started our Holiday Swap on ning. That's exciting. Who knows what wonderful things we will receive!
It sounds like you had a great time with your son. Family visits are always nice.

Oooooh you're off to another show, that's great news, I hope you'll share what you buy there :)
I saw that the holiday swap had started, that will be great fun.
I really did have a lovely time with Brendan, I hate it when he has to go back to the UK but I was good this time and determined to put on a brave face :D Hopefully he'll be back again in February.

  5. Yes, who ain't surprised that it is already November! Summer went by so fast and now we are closer to the winter holidays, and it sure is time to get a bit stressed...lol!
You have such a bunch of cuties! Well done with the wig! I have always trouble finding the right yarn or those fur fabrics we have here. Often I end with bald dolls. :D
    Pip is the cutest!
It is always lovely to have family over, but the time flies away so fast. Hope that you can see your son soon again!
Look forward to meeting your new dollie!
    Hugs!

    1. Oh Niina, where does the time go?? The summer seemed to go by quickly here too, I think it was because it seemed very late in arriving this year, and then whoooosh! it was gone :( We have had a lot of rain recently but I guess I can't really complain as we are still having nice sunny days with 19c or 20c temperatures. But I like it hotter than that!!! Some people are never satisfied ;)
I'm glad you like little Pip, thank you!

  6. One thing I'm excited about October ending is all the Christmas decorations that are already starting to appear! I just love Christmas so much, but I can't believe how fast the year has gone!
I'm glad you had fun with your son, and going to the gym together sounds like a lot of fun, I love the gym but I'm always alone there haha.
You have a very nice doll collection and your photos are adorable. Love the pigtails you made on your girl's wig, it's just the perfect look for her.
I'll be sure to be checking your blog regularly too, I'm glad to find more bloggers that are still writing about dolls, during my break it seemed that many blogs just disappeared and my reading list has gotten awfully short.

    1. I know what you mean about the decorations, no sooner had October got underway and there were Christmas decorations in our local Dunnes Stores which is an Irish chain. I don't think too many have appeared yet in the Spanish stores but it won't be long I'm sure. I am not a great fan of Christmas these days, but I quite like the decorations and the lights :)
I'm glad you like my dolls, thank you for your nice comments.
I've noticed the same, blogs seem to be getting thinner on the ground, which is a real shame in my humble opinion, but I guess people have busy lives and something has to give.

  10. Another lovely and interesting post. I just love your Little Pip! What a dear boy with his bike and monkey too. Our Fall is finally here but still raining a lot which has caused me not to take many photos or think about blogging. I hope tomorrow is a sunny day. Thank you for sharing this well dressed group of dear ones. Take care Sharon. 😊 xxx

    1. Thanks so much dear Ginger, I'm glad you enjoyed the post.
We also are in autumn and yesterday afternoon and evening we had horrendous rain, but today is beautiful sunshine again and nice and warm during the day, though a bit cooler once the sun goes down. I am now into long sleeves....although I see a lot of tourists still wearing shorts, sleeveless tops and sandals!
