A guest appearance from Joyce's girls!

Today we have some very pretty brunettes making a guest appearance on my blog.  Their names are, from left to right, Alison ( in green) Lulu ( in yellow) and Katie ( in pink) and they belong to a lovely lady called Joyce who lives in the UK.  Joyce commissioned me to make these three outfits and I asked her if she'd share her girls wearing them when they arrived.  I  like to see their new owners enjoying them....my girls are grumpy models as they know that they'll not get to keep the outfits as they belong to some other little girls!!!!

Thanks so much Joyce for sharing your pretty girls with us. I love all three girls but the little girl in the middle, with those curls, looks just like a brunette Shirley Temple! So cute!  And the matching shoes are so sweet too!

Won't anyone come and play ball with me?

Ellie was a little bit fed up with herself today because she wanted to play ball with someone but there wasn't anyone wanting to play with her!  It was just too hot to be running around after a ball!

Gabrielle takes a bow!

Today Gabrielle got the chance of some modelling and some camera time.  I made this outfit for her last year but she never got to wear the shorts as one of my other Sashas stole them from her!!!!  But now she has them back and wanted to model for you!

Gabrielle is my Sasha Pink Dress, I think from 1979, she was obviously made before the Sashas became bigger because she is about the same size as my other older girls.  She has had her eyes repainted by Shelly, freckles and blush added by me and is wearing a lambswool wig. 

A break from sewing....well almost!!

After having seen my Blythes which I'd customised myself, Steve Kingaby sent me his new Blythe for me to work on.  He gave me 'free rein' to do what I wanted with her, so I gave her the full 'works'!  Steves Blythe is an ADG Blythe which were designed to look like the original Kenner Blythes which were produced in 1972 and she had long blond hair with a middle part and no fringe.  She was completely default and the first ADG Blythe that I've customised.  And I freely admit that she was a challenge!!  Here is a 'before' photo showing her with her original blue eyechips :

I thought she was quite a pretty girl but can understand that Steve wanted a new look for her because the default girls can lack 'personality'.

Here she is during the carving process.  You can see that I've carved her mouth, given her a philtrum, a small chin cleft, as well as a button nose and nostrils.  I also made her eyeholes a tiny bit larger at the top.  This is a photo showing her prior to sanding:

Then comes the sanding.  It takes a lot of work to get the plastic nice and smooth again after all the carving.  But once that's achieved, the makeup is next...for this I use good quality artists chalk pastels and seal it several times as I go along using Mr Super Clear Flat sealant from Japan.  I also gave her four new sets of eyechips from Brain Worm and Cool_Cat, new soft long dark eyelashes, I 'boggled' her eyes and gave her 'sleep eyes'.  I painted her eyelids with four layers of pearly cream coloured artists acrylic paint.  I also washed and conditioned her hair, then cut it to about waist length.  I also gave her a fringe as I think Blythe has such a big forehead that a fringe softens the look of that expanse of plastic!!  Here she is with damp hair but showing her new makeup:

Finally I made her a new outfit to go home in, it consists of the little smock top and matching shorts, both made from blue and white seersucker which has tiny 'summer' themed motifs on it, long red and white stripy stockings, a red hair bow clip and white 'leatherette' boots.

 

Steve has seen her photos and is very happy for me to share her on here, in fact it was his suggestion for me to do so.....I hope he'll be very happy with her when she arrives home to the UK!!

I finished another couple of ra-ra skirt sets today and thought I'd share some photos.....to be honest, I haven't had time to take any 'regular' dolly photos!  Both outfits are in shades of purple and/or lilac...with a bit of red thrown in for good measure.  Until flying many times with Virgin Atlantic, I'd never have thought of putting mauve and red together, but I do think that it can make a really nice colour combination, as the fabric on one of these sets proves.   I think that the purple could be worn all year round too.  The buyer of these outfits wants to mix and match them, I didn't try that for my photos but hope she'll share her photos and I will put them on here.

Who is this....? A newbie in Spain???

No, no new Sashas here at the moment, I'm more than happy with my group....but who is this little girl?  Perhaps she slunk in when no-one was looking?!!

It is in fact my lovely little Lyric, a Gotz girlie from the mid 60s!  I couldn't bear how much more of a baldie she was getting, and I've almost exhausted my search for hair of the same colour to re-root her, so I decided to cut her hair off and give her a wig.  I haven't got a lot of wigs in this size and wanted to keep her as a blond, so that left me with just two choices.  A Monique Gold Ginger in Golden Strawberry that really has seen better days, or this one, a Monique Gold Roxie in this very pale Peach Blond.  I decided to go with this one for now, although I would like it in a slightly darker blond.  Unfortunately, unless you try and get a 'custom' colour direct from Monique Trading Co, there are only four choices in colour for this particular style. However, I was thinking that I might look out for a dye for synthetic fabrics and see if I can darken it.....although I'm reluctant to ruin it, so shall see how it goes!

I do like this style on her though, I think she looks sooooo cute and I like that she looks more 'pouty' than she did before....I love pouty looking dolls!!!
