Elise gets a new outfit....

I was thinking that it can get very boring sewing the same styles over and over and perhaps I needed a challenge.  I decided to challenge myself to make something every weekend for one of my dolls using a pattern that I've not used previously.  It shouldn't be a problem finding different patterns as honestly, I have tons of unused patterns....I'm about as addicted to patterns as I am to dolls and fabric!

So yesterday I started with my first new pattern.  I used one that is actually designed for the American Dolls and thought I'd have to do a bit of adjusting as I wanted it for my Kidz n Cats Elise....the American Dolls have very chunky soft bodies.  However, the style I chose didn't need much adapting at all and I'm very pleased with how it came out.

Elise teamed the tunic with a white long sleeved knit  tee shirt, grey leggings, and her default belt, leg warmers and boots.  Her hat is from My Doll Best Friend.  I really like how this outfit looks on her and will definitely use this tunic top pattern again!

  1. Love her outfit and she looks so good in it. She looks a totally different doll to the Kidz n Cats doll she started life as! I like the tunic top, it looks like something even I would not find too hard to have a go at! I have just knitted a hat very similar to that one for my Sasha's, so I may try one out for my kids!
I like the challenge you have set yourself! I too am always buying pattern's for both sewing and knitting, then just go off and do my own thing!! Funnily enough I have challenged my self to sew at least one thing a month and if I don't do it I must start selling some of my lovely fabric!! Have I started...not yet... but I am thinking about it..does that count?
Well done on starting yours and turning out another love outfit for one of your dolls.

    1. Thanks very much Dee, and yes, she does look completely different doesn't she! I think she looks a bit as if she's Caribbean or something, her skin tone looks quite dark compared to some too.
I think you should definitely try out these hats for your Kidz, I think they all look great in hats and of course it'll keep their little heads nice and toasty warm!
Good for you for setting yourself a challenge too...sometimes I think we need to get out of our 'rut' and do something different and then we realise what fun it can be!

  4. Oh wow, Sharon, she looks so cute, but grown up at the same time. I'd never have thought it possible to remodel a AG pattern for her, she is so much slimmer than they are - result of better diet, perhaps?!

    1. Thanks very much Jenni, I'm glad you like it! Well to be honest, I didn't really have to do much to this pattern as it's quite a loose shape so I only adapted a little, but I'm pleased with how it came out.

  6. That outfits suits her perfectly! The fabric that you used for the new tunic is perfect - I love how you've paired it with pieces that work so well with the colours in it.

And it's always brilliant to hear about patterns that work across doll lines! :)

    1. Thank you jSarie! Normally the AG patterns wouldn't work so well because the Kidz and the AGs are such different shape but this is quite a straight forward sort of tunic so it was easy to adapt for the Kidz. I'm glad it worked out well because I like this style and can think of a few other ways it would look nice too :)

    1. Cheeky monkey!
My girls only get sewed for at weekends, (and not every weekend at that!) as all week I'm sewing commissions, so the poor girls work hard modelling for me! They deserve some new things sometimes ;)
