Trying outfits for size....

Jo, my new Zwergnase Junior Miriam has been trying on outfits for size as, at 55cm tall she is the biggest of my 'play dolls', excluding my two Himstedt dolls, and so far we haven't got much to wear in her size!  I tried lots of things on her and had intended taking more photos of her in different outfits, but Sods Law the weather today has been dreadful with really, really high winds that have smashed several of our flowerpots and uprooted trees locally, not conducive to taking dolly photos!  So I will just show her in the one outfit I photographed yesterday......

I made these overalls/dungarees for a Super Dollfie sized BJD so they are way too long on Jo but they do fit her quite well elsewhere, so she is wearing them for the time being.  They really could do with an extra snap put on the sides where the gingham pocket backs are, as she is currently showing off her knickers from the side!  I guess she has a bigger tummy than the BJD they were made for!!

Her hat is from another doll who's name escapes me but one of the doll companies here in Spain....

Leoni (Violet) also got a change of outfit this week but hers is new and I didn't make it, I bought it online.....it's nice to have someone else do all the hard work sometimes!  I really like this fine needle cord jacket and skirt with the orange long sleeved top and the striped leggings.  The hat and ankle warmers are from Kidz n Cats.

And finally, just a quick photo of the beach and the sea taken a couple of days ago on my afternoon walk....yes the morning one was missed as I overslept!!!

The afternoons at this time of year are also great for walking except that Lucy and I keep getting caught up by the local goatherds and their hundreds of goats as they walk through the campo as we do!!  Lucy goes berserk and wants to 'help' with rounding them up.....whilst I always seem to get embroiled in conversations about the weather....and we don't get very far very quickly!!!

The goats are very interested in Lucy and not in the least bothered by her mad barking at them!

Well, thank you for visiting, I hope you've all had a good weekend and that you have a great week ahead!

Big hugs, Sharon xx

  1. Jo looks lovely in the pink and brown outfit. It's good when you can fit new dolls into your other dolls clothing as it means at least they get a change of wear! Violet's outfit looks lovely and warm , just perfect for those early morning walks you go on.

We've had some very windy weather here and it's broken on of our pots too!

Love that photo of the sea, Paul would move to the coast tomorrow but I don't want to move so far from the girls, so I just have to enjoy trips to teh coast instead when we get the better weather.

I love that Lucy like to help with the goats who are totally unimpressed! Hamish would have been the same barking his head off telling them what for!

Hope you have a lovely week

    1. Thanks very much Dee, I'm glad you like the outfits. I must say it was nice to find that Jo fit into at least one outfit that I already had, especially as I really didn't have much time to make her something! And also it's nice to get something ready made, for Violet, let someone else do the sewing :)
I do love being just across the road from the sea, but appreciate that you'd want to be near your daughters :) I have always loved the beach!
Oh don't you worry, Lucy barks her head off too...I'm surprised we've not been banished by the goatherds, from going anywhere near their poor goats!!

  2. Hi Sharon,
Brown can be a very boring colour at times, though when you team it with pink or pale blue it really looks quite stunning as this outfit looks on Jo, and it doesn't matter that the pants are a little long.

I also like the brown with the orange on Lioni, reminds me of autumn when the leaves begin to turn. :) I really need new clothes for my Violet (I didn't change her name) as well, but as I have been concentrating on knitting for my new arrivals, so I may have to purchase something too. I don't mind doing that every now and then, it's good support our fellow seamstresses from time to time.
    Big hugs,
    X

    1. It's funny but I used to hate brown but now I really like it. I have so many different brown handbags, two pairs of brown boots, you name it and I seem to have it in brown these days!
I agree that it looks good with another colour, I've seen brown with lime green too and that really does look good.
I agree, it's great to support our fellow seamstresses and I've had seamstresses buy from me too, so it's nice to reciprocate sometimes :)

  3. You definitely have a brown theme going on...even the goats are brown! There is something about the Zwergnase dolls I can't put my finger on it...I do like them but I can't bring myself to buy one as I know one would lead to two and then .....

    1. I never used to like brown at all but it has 'grown' on me over the years and now I really like it, especially if it's teamed with another brighter colour :)
I know what you mean about the Zwergnase dolls, there is something about them, they are definitely 'quirky' dolls. I know they're not to everyone's taste but they have a small happy following ;)

  4. Jo is adorable in that outfit. Just a couple of alterations and it fits perfectly. I love the pink and brown colors on her. Leoni is also adorable in her brown cord outfit. She has a wistful expression. Thank you for the photo of the beach. I love the beach and thinking of you walking there is so nice. That is a lot of goats! 😊 XXX

I too love the beach, I cannot imagine living far from it, I love to be able to lie in bed and on a windy night, hear the waves crashing on the beach....it's very soothing!
Yes there are an awful lot of goats around here!!!

  5. The photo of the goats made me laugh. Almost all look the same way and have the same expressions. I do live goats, so funny!

Your dolls are so cute and the combination with pink/brown is adorable, especially with dots. And stripes! :)

    Enjoy the new week!

    1. I know what you mean about the goats, they are such funny little creatures! There are now 7 babies and it is so sweet watching them playing, they are just like little children, chasing one another around and climbing on a small wall that is in the middle of their field! They fascinate me :)
I'm glad you like the dolls and their outfits :)
