And then there were TWO!!!!

As some of you will know, since my 1971 Brunette Sasha, Bailey, lost all her hair, I have been hankering after another Brunette.  I did reroot Bailey, in fact I rerooted and removed her hair twice, but she is now classed as a wig wearing 'waif'!!!  So recently I decided to make more of an effort to find a Brunette.  I missed a few because of time differences and another because I wouldn't pay a  high price for a doll with badly falling hair.  Then a dear sweet friend in the US came to my rescue.  Ginger of Sasha Shangri-La offered me a choice of one of her two Brunette girls and because I couldn't decide between them, liking them both for different reasons, I decided to adopt them both and bring them to live here in Spain.

The two girls arrived yesterday and today they are settling in and resting after their long journey from the USA.  As Ginger informed me, both girls have falling hair to some degree, but I have learned my lesson the hard way in the past, these girls will not be getting a hair wash, in fact they will not even have their hair combed!!  So if they look a little windswept please forgive me!!

First up is Stella who was named by her previous mum, Ginger.   Stella has white elastics although I'm not sure if they are her original ones, and pretty brown eyes, her lips have oxidised a little, she is in good 'played with' condition.  She has very thick hair and as far as I'm aware has no empty plugs :)  She is wearing a new outfit that I recently received from Ginny, of  A Passion for Sasha, I think it really suits her colouring.  Her shoes are made by Noreen and her socks are made by me.

Secondly we have this little lady.  She had a sad start to life apparently, she was owned by a person who had acquired her in a 'lot' of dolls, and sadly the person didn't even like Sasha dolls!!!  She has never been played with, and never had a name!  I think you can see this sadness reflected in her face! ;)  So she went to live with Ginger, where she was happy but still didn't get named, LOL, and now she has come to live here with me.  She too has nice thick hair and no missing plugs as yet.  Her elastics are also white and she has lots of sand falling from her joints.  She came to me wearing her original gingham outfit but changed straight away into this outfit which I made a while ago for another girl.  The reason she hasn't got anything new yet is because the outfit I made especially for her, just didn't suit her, so I will make her something else. Red leather boots are made by Ruthsdolls.

And here are some photos of the two girls together.  They are happy to have one another because it's always a bit overwhelming to arrive in a new home in a strange country  and not know anyone, but I'm sure that my other girls and boys will soon make them feel at home :)

Sky Blue for Skye...

At the weekend Skye reminded me that I'd not yet made her a summer dress as I'd promised, so I quickly sewed up this simple summer 'shift' type dress in two lovely blue and white fabrics that I recently bought.  I love blue and white, they are easily my favourite colours together, and I am happy with how this little dress turned out.  I think it goes very well with her eyes, bringing out the beautiful blue of the handpainting....she really is a very pretty girl, wouldn't you agree! :)

Skye meets the sea....

Today Skye had her first modelling 'assignment' and we decided to go to the beach for her to 'strut her stuff' in a very natural environment :)

The outfit isn't for sale as it is a prototype of a new style that I've put together.  Instead of a tee shirt, this top is actually a 'body' and has short puffed sleeves.  The skirt is slightly different too in that it has straps which cross over at the back.  Just a little bit different but a change from what I've been making.   I think the applique here is a little too big, especially with the straps but that is something to work on for next time.  I also haven't quite finished it because the straps, although sewn on with decorative buttons on the front, so far are only pinned on the back and the applique needs some additonal decoration/stitching.  This new 'body' style eliminates any bulk at the waist and also the need for additional knickers as they are 'built in'.  As per usual an outfit like this will come with socks and hairband/ribbon ties.

The waves are really crashing on to the beach at the moment and the walkway from the road to the sand has been partially washed away! 

 A couple of waves later and this rock that Skye was so ably balanced on, was covered with water and foam!  (Luckily she'd moved on by then!)

Introducing a new girlie!

A new little girl came to live here in Spain with us, she arrived yesterday and as yet remains unnamed but we have a few ideas up our sleeves, so it won't be long, hopefully, before she tells me her chosen name.

She is a 1969 girl with a short fringe which Shelly said would have been done by the factory, and she came wearing this sweet dress by Molly, but it needs a bit of freshening up...but because I didn't anticipate adopting her whilst we are down here at the coast, I don't have any spare outfits for her to try out, so for now she will wear this pretty dress. 

She has had a wash and I've conditioned her hair.  Unfortunately her hair was quite dry on the ends so I decided to cut it into a bob....I hope you'll agree that it looks really lovely and soft now, so although it was a bit 'scary' making that first cut, I'm happy that I took the plunge!

Oh! Her name just came to me whilst I was typing this.....it's Skye!  Sorry for so many photos of her, I couldn't choose, so decided to include them all!!!

Her hair parting is almost 'off centre' .... 

Here she is with Wren, my 1969 Kilt Sasha...another reason I wasn't too concerned about cutting Skye's hair.  They look very similar but different as well, if that makes sense!!  I think Skye's irises are more 'outlined'  and round, whereas Wren's are more oblate,  but I feel that both girls have equally beautiful eye paint.

No Navel......Traded, thank you :)

My No Navel girl arrived from Shelly this week and she's very sweet, her hair is lovely and thick and she has a very pretty face......but I can't bond with her!  I don't know what it is but she just isn't hitting the spot with me at the moment and has only been out of her box for me to fix the hook on one of her legs which was in the wrong place and making it hard for her to stand.  Now she stands just fine, but still I've not fallen in love with her.  :(  I've wanted a No Navel for ages and am sure that one will come here to stay in the future, but not at the moment. 

Therefore, she is going back to Shelly's :(  where hopefully someone else will adopt her.  I thought I'd post on here in case anyone is interested in her.  I'm asking the same price as I paid, which is £480 plus postage from Spain.  She will come just as she came to me, wearing her 'Dreaming Under the Lilacs' outfit, consisting of matching dress, knickers and hair ties, plus her socks and white leather Boneka lace-up shoes.

I am also open to trades.....I love trades!  I would particularly love to trade for a Toddler, boy or girl, bald or with hair, dark or fair skin, or alternatively I would be interested in other Sasha dolls, of a similar value/condition to this one.  But please, if you do offer a trade and your doll is not for me, please don't be offended if I turn you down, it's nothing personal against your particular doll.

Thoroughly spoilt....

Yes, that's me!  Before Christmas when my lovely hubby asked me what I'd like for my present, I casually mentioned a Sasha....but I really was only joking because the one I mentioned was a very expensive redhead Gregor on Shelly's website.  However, he took me seriously but said that if I could wait until after Christmas for him, I could get him then, because we had a lot of big expenses to pay before the end of the year.  I laughly told him that I really was only joking, the doll was far too expensive and I wouldn't want to do anything with him "just in case".  Anyway, to cut a long story short, a week or so ago hubby bought himself a new laptop and said if I wanted to get the doll to do so.  However, even though the particular doll had been reduced in price and I didn't love him any less, I decided to wait because as well as being expensive, boys don't get so much attention here as girls do.

Then Shelly updated her website!  Lo and behold there were some gorgeous No Navels on there and I fell nstantly for one of them in particular!  And thanks to my sweet hubby, she will be coming here as soon as Shelly packs her suitcase and gets her on her journey!

1969 Gotz Blonde No Navel in Dreaming under the Lilacs dress set. This petite and very pretty young lady is in played with but good condition . She retains her original stringing which is in good order though she has some bulging to her right leg socket and standing is achievable but a little awkward . She has two enlarged armholes where the hooks are rubbing a restring would help with this .Her hair is thickly rooted and soft and silky with some dryness to the ends , there are four empty plugs to the nape of her neck . She has three tiny blue spots to her forehead hidden beneath her fringe . Her face paint is vibrant. She comes wearing a sweet non original outfit by Nikita with shoes by Boneka with commercially made tube socks .

You will see that she has a few issues but nothing major or that I can't deal with....so I'm very excited to be bringing home my first No Navel Sasha.  I blame Dee though, it is definitely all her fault ;)

Now to think of a name for her, all suggestions considered :)

A new little Sasha lover in the making...?

Today Sidika discovered the dollies!  But not any old dolly, oh no, this was a specific one that she had in mind.   Her little face was a picture!

Of course she's only small so she couldn't reach them herself!!!  Or so I thought!

Not to be outdone, she pulled over a couple of dolly boxes and climbed on them to get a better reach! (Please ignore the dust on the Mariquita Perez boxes!)

At first I thought she was only after the little Lindt chocolate bunny (still not eaten, bet you're impressed) that baby Bertie was holding......

But no, it would appear that she has set her sights higher than the chocolate.....(strange girl!!!)...

And actually prefers Bertie instead!

She carefully lifted him down and craddled him to her!!  And asks me "please mama, can I keep him?"

Oh dear, how can I refuse that little face?!!!!
