Guest appearance by Ginger...in her underwear!!!!

Oooh you terrible lot!  Not THAT Ginger, but little Ginger her Little Darling #1 sculpt handpainted by Dianna Effner!!!!

I didn't realise that Ginger (the human one - this could get confusing!) collected other dolls than Sasha and Gregor, so it was a nice surprise when she told me that she also has a Little Darling, but the poor little girlie has been stored in her box for most of her life!!!  (I will NOT put the telephone number for the RSPCD (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Dolls, as I don't want Ginger to get into any trouble!)  Only kidding Ginger!!

Anyway, where was I? Oh yes, Ginger has kept little Ginger in her box because the poor girl hasn't any clothes to wear, just the undies that she arrived in (I will have to rectify that when I haven't got so many ra-ra sets to make!).  But despite all that, Ginger has sent me some lovely photos of her which she says I can share, and my goodness, what a sweet girl, regardless of her state of undress!!!

Here she is:

These 13 inch tall all vinyl dolls are great because not only are their eyes so beautifully handpainted, but they are also wigged so you can change their appearance very easily.   I'm really happy with my new girl and hope to see more of Gingers little girlie in the future!

These photos are shared with permission from Ginger, please don't copy or use them without her permission.  Thank you!

  2. Oh thank you Sharon for showing sweet, little Ginger. As you said, she is a #1 studio doll creation and painted by Dianna Effner herself. I did order her specifically and named her too. She was so worth the wait :). I was mostly concerned that I would forget ordering her but Dianna does not forget! Her wig is a strawberry blonde which was similar to mine as a child though mine was not quite this blonde and had more red highlights :).

I really look forward to seeing the" ordered" girls by Sharon and Dee too, yeah! I noticed on Dianna's website that she is not taking orders at this time due to the backlog! Don't you just wonder if Sasha was that inundated with orders to where she would have to ask folks to wait awhile on ordering. I bet she had similar challenges with buyer demands of her studio dolls too! Beautiful dolls are always in demand. Thank you again Sharon, hugs, xx. :)

    1. You are more than welcome, I hope it helps you to feel you can bring her out to play!
Yes, the wait is long but definitely worth it in th end....I'm trying to forget my order, as I really hate to keep wishing my life away waiting for the doll to come! The longest I've waited for a doll in the past was 6 months, and I really did almost forget about the doll I had on order! So I will enjoy the one I have and be happy when I hear that my orders are ready to be processed.
And no, both Dianna and Lana Dobbs are closed for orders at the moment so that they can catch up. It makes sense because their lists just get longer and longer and they really must need a break from it sometimes!!!!

  5. Do all these Little Darling Dolls just come in their underwear or is there a range of outfits that you can buy alongside the doll?
Perhaps it is thought that a standard outfit might not tone with the designer's eye-paintings done in the next stage .....rather like Sasha Morgenthler who only painted the eyes after the dolls had been wigged and clothed?

Or might this be because the doll company are wanting to have each and every doll dressed as an individual (again like Sasha Morgenthaler) according to the buyer's tastes but surely a new owner would want to get her straight out of the box and have a little play (or photoshoot) and might not have any correct sized clothing there at that time? A bit like what has happened here with Big Ginger and Little Ginger.

For whatever the reason Little Ginger is such a sweet looking little soul who surely doesn't deserve to still be tied up in her box. Hopefully inspired by these photos Sharon will try to move her order up on her commission's list. (I for one am quite prepared to wait a little longer for my order/s if this will help get this cute little doll clothed and out of her box to start to enjoy life.)

    1. In the main Kendal, they come in their underwear but I believe that very occasionally there will be a 'special' released by Dianna in colaboration with a seamstress and the doll will be fully dressed. Often those are of a small limited edition and I believe are listed on ebay. As for outfits, the company don't sell them but there are quite a lot of seamstresses, particularly in the US, who are sewing for them, and of course there are some patterns available for them too. If you search on ebay under 'effner' or 'little darlings' you will see what I mean. A lot of the seamstresses make beautiful heirloom outfits for them, luckily there are fewer who make the sort of things that I like to sew, so maybe I will make some more modern outfits at some point in the future.
You are really kind to wait, but I'm not sure about the others on the list so I will try to squeeze little Ginger in at some point as soon as poss!!!
      xx
